Issue Summary

Karen is sleeping in bed at Matt's apartment. Matt is thinking about how she came back last night. A phone call has him up early, and you can see a reflection in his glasses. Matt isn't at his apartment. We notice he's in a jail visiting room, and he's here to see... Foggy. Foggy is brought in by the cops and he has scratches all over his face.

Matt listens to Foggy explain about his night with Lydia McKenzie. Apparently when they reached the bedroom (from last issue), Lydia turned into some kind of demon and scratched Foggy's face. She then hurled herself out the window, crashing on the pavement below. When Foggy looked outside, Lydia was no longer a demon. She was also dead. Foggy phoned the police, but they arrested him for murder. Foggy's worried about how Liz Osborn (his girlfriend) will feel about the whole thing. Matt swears he'll do his best to get Foggy out of jail.

At the office, Matt makes his way through reporters. He is called into 'Razor' Sharpe's office.

At the apartment, Karen is looking at a picture of herself and Matt. There's a knock at the door. It's Mr. Macabes, and he tells Karen that he isn't here to see Matt. He's here to see her because he knows of her situation.

Back in Sharpe's office, Matt finds out that she wants to fire Foggy. Matt obviously doesn't think this is a good idea and can't believe Sharpe would even think about doing that to her son. She's agonized over the decision, but she can't risk losing the law firm. She has to let Foggy go. She also says that Matt cannot defend Foggy in court. Matt storms out of the office and quits.

Matt has changed into his DD costume, and he's jumping across rooftops. What he doesn't realize is that he has an audience. He notices someone is attacking a lady in the alley. He lands on the attacker and is about to beat some sense into him, when the lady shoots DD with a tranquilizer dart. The attacker and the lady put DD in a van and get into contact with someone on the radio.

At the apartment again, Macabes has told Karen all about the baby and how it's caused her AIDS. Macabes explains that the infection hasn't shown up in years since her days as an 'actress'. But once the baby arrives, Karen is infected. He says Karen should kill the baby to end her infection, but she can't even think about doing a thing like that. Macabes then says that Matt is also infected.

DD wakes in a white room, and he looks for a way out. He can't hear anything. He kicks a wall, but then a shrieking noise overwhelms him. Someone comes through a door. The person tells Mr. Murdock (he knows Matt is DD too) that the sound is high frequency that only Matt can hear. He says his name is Baal, and he is here on Earth to prepare for the coming of someone so important, he can't mention the name since he's not worthy. DD notices where the sound is coming from. Baal continues to say that Matt has been misled by the other organization. He apologizes for detaining DD, but he just wants the child. DD launches his billy club at the speaker on the ceiling. It shatters and DD attacks Baal. Others intervene and stop DD. DD gets away and Baal orders the others not to shoot at DD. They can't risk hurting DD. DD is still a bit weary from the sounds in the room, so as he escapes the building, he finds himself right in the path of a oncoming truck.
