I hope I will be excused for the title, but yesterday I saw the recent "Casino Royale" in an outdoor cinema... and well, I sighed just thinking what a great "Daredevil" movie it could have been if it had been made by the Bond Team and not the people who did that Affleck flic.

I'm not a sucker for action movies, but I admit that the initial action scenes got me... and the breath-taking physicallity of the chase in the building works, seemed to me as an ideal and powerful DD/Punisher or DD/Bullseye chase scene (instead of the lame CGI and fight choreography we got in the actual Daredevil film)

Incidentally; i think Daniel Craig could have been one hell of a Bullseye (No, I didn't like Colin Farrell's jerky retard of a Bullseye)

I agree that it would have been a better movie if made and directed by the bond team. Not only that but if they had a better cast. The cast of Daredevil was all wrong. I wish they had a better cast and crew.

I suppose that it is a budget thing, also: Bond films have monster budgets because they generally score well in the Box-Office. The daredevil film must have been a B film, budget-wise, in comparison with the average Bond movie.

But the planning of scenes (i.e. storyboarding) is not necessarily expensive... more that this: Just taking as it is, say, the storytelling of either "Born Again" or the "Man Without fear" mini, pannel by pannel, they would have saved a lot of money in further writers: and they both were awesomelly terrific stories as they were.

Re the cast: I thought that even with a better one, it would have suffered the poor writing. Personally, while I think that Jon Favreau was one of the few nice things about the film, I think he wasn't the best possible Foggy: his extra weight was right, but otherwise his looks were wrong for me.

My ideal choices would be either Rolf Lassgard

or Timothy Spall

Both portly gentlemen with a grand acting talent (though maybe a bit mature for the part). Another possible choice would be Beau Bridges: he's certainly older, but was good as the underdog of the Fabulous Baker Brothers. Mark (Full Monty) Addy has fitting looks and age for the character, though I still have to see him deliver the goods as I have seen Messrs. Lassgard, Spall or Bridges do it.

Having menyioned Beau, I think that, were Jeff Bridges younger, too, he could be a nice Murdock.

MSJ is a chimp.

He's a bad director. An even worse writer. The DD was a failure because of him. Yes, people want to blame Foster (and, yes, he's a jackass too), but, the fact remains that MSJ got pushed around because he was a new director (just glad to have a job). The DD movie franchise was a wash because the guy was utterly impotent and incompetent as a "leader" of a film.

Wow. Gloria really does like Foggy alot. Like. ALOT.

As for the movie, for me the writing is what killed it. A close second (in terms of worst thing about the movie) was the fighting. A much more natural/realistic style of action would have helped alot. Whoever decided to have a CG DD running up the pipe organ deserves to be shot. Even funnier there's that one "behind the scenes" scene where it shows Afleck falling over and over again as he does a wire jump about 3 feet. Why use wires for such a small hop? Very unnatrual and crappy.

Yes, When I saw James Bond chasing the guy through the Building/Cranes... and it was so feverish, and definitely non-wired... well, I thought that this kind of action would have suited Daredevil more than the "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" wire antics (though of course, in the DD film it wasn't even as good as in the Chinese film either).

...Even the last scene in the Bond film set in Venice reminded me strongly of an old DD story by Denny O'Neill/David Mazzuchelli with Murdock in Venice to avenge Heather

I actually liked the part of the fight scene where Bullseye throws a flurry of shurukien at Daredevil and he blocks them all and then throws the club at him. The glass thing was a little silly but oh well.

i'm typically not a big fan of James Bond movies. don't really care for the "suave" Bond...but happend upon Casino Royale and was pleasantly suprised by the unvarnished Bond. i am in complete agreement with others on this thread. the free-running action scene on the construction site was magnificent and would make a wonderful DD scene.

There should have been TONS of free running in a DD film. That's what he frickin does. But, let's face it, the DD movie was missing more than free running. It was missing a good director, writer, produces, actors, studio heads, cinemetographers, editors and soundtrack. Oh, but it did have Kevin "I can't believe I ate the whole thing" Smith.

Daniel Craig as Bond is CR did make me think of Matt Murdock. Two working class/or low class guys who are trying to be gentlemen, but are still rough around the edges.

Beau Bridges as Foggy?

Maybe as Foggy's dad...

The other actors look like him, but I wonder if they'd actually make a good Foggy. I guess we'll eventually.

In my opinion, I don't think a DD movie will focus on Foggy's character too much. He's an important DD character, but generally of little consequence.
