Of course, I can't imagine that reading Batman 670 and then 671 without the other three in between would make much sense at all. That's, perhaps, a touch irresponsible of DC.

No, they don't. I understand why the story has been split like this, though - it's to make people like me (who only buy Batman) buy other comics that I wouldn't normally try.

Sadly, they haven't managed to provide a decent enough story in the pages of Batman that I'm actually interested in what happens in those other comics.

Sorry if this is becoming a general Batman thread for my personal edification, but …

First, the thing I’m really curious about in this ‘Resurrection of R’as al Ghul’ crossover is why doesn’t DC use any “recap pages” ? That might make it clearer for their long-time Bat-readers who aren’t inclined to pick up the other books. It wouldn’t take away from the story and it’s courteous. Maybe DC isn’t big on the recap page? I don’t read enough of their books to know. ‘Flash’ has a recap page (even though the entire story of this first Waid arc could be told in 2 sentences, thus far). Why no recap page DC? It would also make sense for posterity. I mean, imagine the poor fellow with a complete run of Batman trying to read back through and the chasm from 670 to 671 will make no sense at all. Oh, well.

Second, DC has succeeded in getting me interested in Morrison’s Batman and this crossover. I even added ‘Robin’ and ‘Nightwing’ to my list – the characters seem promising (especially with the revamp in creative teams) and I’ll give them a shot. I like the idea of the Bat Family books. Wouldn’t a DD family of books be good? Uh, maybe not, … but at least Gloria would get her Foggy solo title: lots of researching precedent, eating take-out, and being sweet to the ladies. Maybe he could go under the title of The Secret-Keeper?

In April or May the whole "Res. of Ra's Al Ghul" story is coming out in a hardcover book. I'll wait and grab a copy of that, I think it will probably be a good read for a Bat fan like me and others.

As for All Star Batman and Robin, you can keep it. I know it's supposed to be a different take on Batman and it's supposed to be kind of satire but it's not for me. When Bats slapped Dick Grayson and said "I'm the Goddammed Batman!" I knew that this wasn't the Batman I knew anymore. Some people may like that I don't know, but I was never too fond of "Elseworlds" Batman stories anyways.

I will make an exception for Dark Knight Returns. It was pretty damn awesome I have to admit.
