So it's no secret that the Book Club has kind of declined it participation recently. While I think it's a lovely idea (and has gotten me to read much more), I don't want to continue it if no one is really interested.

Don't worry, I still want to continue it at least for the premiere of Luke Cage. Ideally, I'd like to go with Daredevil #178 (The Paper Chase) and Power Man & Iron Fist # 77 (What's Black and White and Red All Over?), but the latter is probably impossible for anyone to get legitimately online (I have it through Essential Power Man and Iron Fist Vol. 2, but that's hardly ideal). The other plan is Daredevil: Cage Match.

If people really want me to, I'm happy to continue. I haven't run out of ideas yet. Alternatively, if someone else wants to take over, I'm happy to give them the opportunity. But, even if we give it a rest for now, I'm happy to bring it back when something relevant is happening either in comics today or the MCU.

So please chime in with two things. Is it worth continuing the Book Club right now? And would people prefer the more accessible Cage Match or the Paper Chase and Luke Cage follow-up instead?

I personally have been enjoying Book Club, but it's up to you if you want to continue it. It feels like we have hit on most of the major stories.

As for Luke Cage, I don't think Cage Match is a significant work at all, so I would go with Paper Chase.

One last thing: We should probably return to Bendis and cover "Out." I think Bendis has grown to be a somewhat controversial figure on this site, or at least polarizing. Some people seem to revere him, while others (like myself) find him overrated.

But it's up to you.

I'm still for it. I plan on continuing to contribute when work and Real Life allow for it but it's still good seeing all the different opinions on stories and minis that may not be as well known as others.

I would also second the choice for Paper Chase.

OK. I'm sold. I'm happy to continue. I'd also love to do Out. I always hesitate to do Bendis because it lasts for a long time so it's hard to back out if no one is watching (it'll run for about six issues to go through Dancing Between the Raindrops). But I'm happy to do it.

I can do it as early as October 16. Alternatively, I really wanted to do the creation of Blackheart (DD 270) at some point and Halloween-ish seemed appropriate. I was wondering if people were interested in the opening half of what's usually called the Lone Stranger arc - essentially Cremains (#267) to Blackheart (#270). As an added bonus, the weird trippy one can come out just in time for Doctor Strange. It's somewhat disjointed overall, but it definitely stands out as distinct from the issues that follow and works as a fairly self-contained arc.

So let me know if you want to do the Out arc on October 16 or the Lone Stranger arc on October 16 (with Out to start November 13).

I was about to post to ask. I'm going to do a Christmas story next week. I was thinking Daredevil #253 (Merry Christmas, Kingpin). I don't recall it being anything other than fluffy filler, but it's a story on Marvel Unlimited and I thought it was good for Christmas. I'm assuming people wouldn't want to do something as new as Daredevil Vol. 3 #8 from Mark Waid's run (the one with the kids from the school of blind students).

But, yes, I wasn't sure what to do after that. My plan was to continue with Bendis (I do like the next story), but a change of pace is a good idea.

I have to admit, I kinda want to cover Lowlife, just because I think its more cohesive then Out and it would fun to have an arc that focused on a B-list villain, even though it is not the best take on the character. Bendis does treat Owl better then other B-list DD villains though.

But I am open to other ideas.

Well, next would be Trial of the Century, then Lowlife.

I'm happy to go all the way to Hardcore if people are interested. Or we can take a break with some other story. At some point, I'd like to do Fall From Grace (ugh), the Elektra Saga, and Elektra's resurrection, but those are the only real stories I can think of that are easily accessible and fun to cover.

Once again, I'm happy to pick stories not on Marvel Unlimited if I give people enough notice. For example, people have mentioned Elektra: Assassin.

Also, if anyone can think of any Iron Fist tie-ins (or stories that would thematically work well with Iron Fist), let me know.

I'm fine with that before continuing on with Bendis, or even doing Karl Kessel's Mr. Hyde story as well.

I'll continue Bendis for now. It's only a three-story plot, so we can go to something else if we want fairly soon.

Sorry I didn't get a chance to follow up on this to see if people still wanted to do Lowlife. Real life has been a bit busy. I figure, at this point, we might as well finish Lowlife and Hardcore.

After that, I've heard the suggestion of 353-357 - the story where Matt defends Mr. Hyde. I would love to do this story, but full-warning. It's not collected in trade and only one issue (354) is on Marvel Unlimited). Looking briefly through my copies, I thought it would definitely look fun, but I would definitely be alerting people now to start looking for them before April.

If someone wants something completely off the wall, parts of Steve Gerber's run is available, so we could do some of the more psychedelic San Francisco stuff (maybe 105-107, although maybe 103-107). I'm sure you guys know by now I love tie-ins if we want Moondragon, Priestess of Titan (and daughter of Drax) to appear around the time of Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Full disclosure, though, this story caused me to stop reading Daredevil (outside of the book club) for several weeks, so I'm not going to pretend they're necessarily enjoyable stories. Certainly, I can promise it would be something quite different.

I also think we should do Elektra: Assassin at some point (I was waiting for Defenders to time it that way, but that's obviously not necessary.

I think it could be fun to cover a goofy Silver Age story like Daredevil 8.

I wouldn't mind something in between Lowlife and Hardcore, but I can't think of anything in particular. Perhaps something from the Widow's Kiss trade paperback, or the Micah Synn story?

Micah Synn is just difficult because they're eight uncollected issues. It's certainly one I'd love to cover, but it's two months people can't join in if they don't have them.

For something from Widow's Kiss, we could do the Widow's Kiss story itself or we can do the finale to Volume one (D.G. Chichester's #380).

Here's my tentative thoughts:
1/22-2/19 will be Lowlife since we started that.
2/26 will be Daredevil # 8 with Stilt-Man.
3/5-4/2 will finish up the first Bendis arc with Hardcore.
4/9-4/23 will be Widow's Kiss (DD #368-370), so you'll have time to get the issues or the TPB.
4/30-5/21 will be "Menace From the Moons of Saturn!" and associated Steve Gerber issues.

In the meantime, I'd suggest getting Daredevil #202, 204, 206, 210, 211-214 (Micah Synn story) and #353-357 (Mr. Hyde trial). I certainly would love to finally do those stories.

OK, time for suggestions again. The only real thought process I have is to Daredevil #225 for July 9 in honor of Spider-Man: Homecoming. That leaves six issues open. I was thinking of doing the trial of Mr. Hyde - 353-357 either starting next week or the week after with a one-shot first. Then I have four issues before Defenders come out.

So here are things I could use:
A one-shot. Have we done the first issue with Purple Man? I know we did Yellow, but I feel like recent events make it a good time to do Purple Man.
A four issue story
Something in honor of Defenders - I have a couple thoughts. All are Elektra-related. One, we could just do the Elektra Saga. Second, we could do Fall From Grace. I haven't had anything that gave Daredevil: Father a run for its money yet. Or we could do Elektra: Assassin. Or we can skip the four-issue story and go straight to build up to Defenders. Let me know if any of these ideas interest anyone.
