I don't think, last issue, it fully sunk in how big a status quo change this would be. Matt is out of the DA's Office and Deputy Mayor. Immediately, it seems clear that he's in a somewhat awkward position. He's in an office by himself while someone reads everything to him and Fisk can use him as a figurehead while diverting him from real power. His only hope is to use his hearing to spy on the real things Fisk is doing.

The issue shifts suddenly when Frank McGree of the Inhumans shows up. Side note, I love Frank. He's a great character and I'm not surprised Soule would want to use his creation more. My suspicion is the Kingpin stuff will slowburn a bit longer while Daredevil chases after Muse. The ending panel was very cool and there's a neat little "next time" page I like.

I'm giving this one Four Stars. It actually felt more like set up than anything we've seen in the last two issues. For "part three" that's unfortunate, but, if this is a status quo that lasts the next six months to a year, I think it'll be worth it. Also nice to see Foggy. Landini is definitely pushing the characters more in the Netflix direction.

Four stars from me-pretty good for Soule’s usual “calm before the storm” mid-arc pause, and Landini’s art is still great. I have to say I was not prepared for how funny this issue was. Between Fisk and Wesley just walking off and leaving, Steve reading to Matt (if Matt cared I think he has grounds for a reasonable workplace accommodation case), and the final page, there was a lot of good material in this. I also didn’t mind seeing Frank McGee again as I genuinely liked him when he popped up before, although I agree with Matt that he didn’t need Frank’s help. Finally, I’m glad Foggy stopped by to support Matt, and I learned something new as I had no idea about the history of the deputy mayor in NYC and the line of succession. I think Matt’s plan to gather intel on Fisk is as sound as it could be; he simply doesn’t have a lot of options to take him down at this point.

Matt is already on Fisk’s case, but it was an arrogant mistake by Fisk to just brush Matt off like that; Fisk could at least have pretended to value Matt by escorting him to his office while listening to him and then taking off. Had someone else been in the deputy mayor role this would have tipped them off that something wasn’t right. I guess being the Kingpin of Crime doesn’t teach proper office decorum. And I didn’t think anything was wrong with the old teaser page, but I agree that this new one is even better with the clean design and background.

So I must admit that I knew very little about the office of Deputy Mayor when last issue's cliffhanger hit. This issue's scene with Foggy helped educate me tremendously. I had no idea how much Matt was derailing his career in order to spy on the Kingpin.

Having said that, I don't think Steve's constant reading should prevent Matt's spying too much. He's shown an amazing ability to concentrate and focus in the past. I'm assuming everyone who takes on a creative role on Daredevil has read Miller's first run, so we're all aware of his ability to hear a single cough on the other end of the city. Then there's that scene in "Guardian Devil" when he stopped paying attention to the "chatty kathy" in the room with him so he could figure out the location of a white noise machine (or whatever that was). I think Matt should be able to focus on what Fisk is saying for several blocks, let alone the front door of City Hall.

Landini's art isn't as detailed as last issue, but that's okay. I liked his depiction of the radar in the bodega. He is still drawing Vincent D'Onofrio, which is fine with me since D'Onofrio rocks hard as the Kingpin. I don't think he's drawing Charlie Cox as much as he's keeping with previous interpretations of Matt Murdock.

I would have expected Matt to do a little investigative work in regards to Sarnos before aimlessly going on patrol as Daredevil. Matt is smarter than that. Instead he stops a generic bodega robbery, and then Frank MacGee shows up to tell him Muse is back.

All of that gives this issue a disjointed feel. I'm willing to bet that most of us readers are pre-occupied with the Mayor Fisk plot, and I love Muse! I'm not sure if Muse's mural is going to piss off Fisk, or lead him to question Matt about it, but this plot is starting to look sloppier than it needs to be.

Also, I don't know why anyone thinks Muse would be focused on Blindspot. Hasn't he done enough to him already? Blindspot didn't stop any of his projects -- Matt did. As far as Muse knows, Blindspot is a sightless and threatless non-issue. It confused me when Matt immediately felt concern for Sam.

At any rate, I'm still enjoying this story, and am eager to see where it goes next. However, I have to grade this issue lower than I did the one previous, so I give it a 3.

Solid issue so far, a bit heavy on the setup; however, as others have mentioned I see this being a bit of a slow-burn which is totally fine with me.

Liking Landini's art overall so I am hoping he will stick around for a bit.

Curious to see how Muse fits into all of this. Also, glad to see Foggy stop by and hope we see more of them continuing to mend their friendship.

4 stars for me

This issue was okay. Everything so so far just seems like a big prelude to DD 600 which is where the real games will probably begin. To me it seems like Soule writes a story and then at the last second he remembers he needs to shove Blindspot in there. Really, I still don't see why he's necessary.
