So I don't have the issues were were discussing in floppy format, but I am lucky enough to have Daredevil #44. In the letters column, people wrote in about Daredevil #41. I thought I would share since the first letter is from future Marvel editor Mark Gruenwald:

Quote:
Daredevil #41 is assuredly as much a turning point in the career of the Man Without Fear as issue #25 was. As I suggested several issues back, his third identity of Mike Murdock definitely had to go. Using this story as a vehicle for doing so was truly a stroke of genius. After all, the story could have ended without this startling change. One of the major differences that separates you from your competition is the fact that your characters continually are changing (for the better and sometimes worse), while theirs remain fairly stable as if there was never incidents that affected one's life in a major way. But now, said the inquisitive reader, what is in store for Daredevil? My liberal predictions (which have an uncanny way of never coming true) are that Matt Murdock will reveal his true identity to Karen and Foggy and will receive a sensational new uniform to match the new road his career has taken.

Now, as to the rest of the story, I get sick and tired of fans writing in telling you that something your character did was impossible. To read and enjoy a comic magazine, a person must willingly accept some premises and suspend reality. This is the only way you will get pleasure out of comics if you can take the writer's word that what the hero did can be done. Stan, you've proven to us again that there is more to comics than just entertainment with the inclusion of that couple that didn't want to get involved. In our present day society, we need little reminders like these to keep us on the path of peaceful association with our fellow man (I sound worse than Irving Forbush giving a lecture at the local cheese factory!). Incidentally, two jokes in this current tri-issue triumph really slayed me. The first was in #40 when Daredevil was scrambling for the T-Gun, and the second was in #41 concerning Catman's nine lives. Keep 'em coming. And if this only the beginning of Marvel's Sensational Sixty-Eight, where will it all end?

There are a few other good ones wondering how the book could continue with Mike Murdock dead, but everyone seems to figure, for the most part, that Marvel will have an answer. There's also a letter that appears to be part of an ongoing debate about why Daredevil's DD on his chest seems to glow red even when the rest of his costume is cast in shadow. This individual thinks that the insignia is made out of a phosphorescent material so it can glow in the dark.

That's really cool. It's interesting to read the perspective of someone who was enjoying the book long before Frank Miller would redefine it for good.

I also thought it was inspired of Stan Lee to include the couple who did nothing. He always liked to include a social message if he could, no matter how small.
