Hello, my name is Amos, and Daredevil is my favorite comic book character. I actually never bought a single issue (I only collected tpbs) until DD 501. After that I went on a buying rampage 'cause the town I'm from always has 75% off sales on back issues (in Spring and Winter). DD rules.

My story is similar to baker's. The first DD comic I bought was DD 501. I was first exposed to DD back in the early 90's when my parents bought me a few of those plastic sealed comic packages they used to sell that had something like 10-15 random titles in each package. Somehow I managed to get all of the Fall of the Kingpin arc that way. I was a Spidey kid so it didn't mean much to me then.

A few years ago, I got back into comics and picked up the Fall of the Kingpin arc. I really dug it, so I decided to pick up the trades from the Miller era. From there I was hooked. I devoured every trade I could get my hands on and decided to pick up the book monthly with the creative team change.

DD is my favorite character because he is the most human of all the superheroes. He has a moral code, but he is human and makes mistakes due to his pride and arrogance like the rest of us. Couple that with powers that only give him and edge over his foes and you have a pretty down to Earth character. I'm really looking forward to what the new creative team is going to add.

*EDIT* I also meant to say how great this site it is and what an asset it is to DD fans. I've directed many friends with questions about DD here and none have been disappointed. Excellent site, keep up the good work!

Hi guys! I'm Zack. I'm somewhat of a newbie to comics, only started buying last December, but I've always enjoyed Daredevil. At first it was for superficial reasons, I'm a redhead and there just aren't many of us out there in the superhero world, but then I just fell in love with the character the more I read. I started off with reading one of my friend's collections and he had everything of Volume 2, so DD has always been a huge favorite of mine. Been visiting the site for awhile, but finally decided to join now that Shadowland is here. Cheers to all!

Yo manwithoutfear.com,

My initial exposure to Daredevil began with an issue of the Chichester/Weeks run where he fought the Hand and this hulking, androgynous creature with an extensive case of herpes. I also remember owning an issue of Amazing Spider-Man where Spidey and DD team-up to take on the Vulture and the Owl. However, by then Matt was sporting that ridiculous armored costume and having major identity issues, so I guess that's better left forgotten.

Despite those awesome stories, I began collecting Daredevil with issue #105 of volume 2. As a kid, I didn't really get the character, and now that I'm older I understand why. Daredevil, at its best, is not your typical testosterone-fueled, adolescent comic book. No, what makes the title truly great is its depth, maturity and portrayal of Matt as a tragic, yet eternally determined hero. If you combine those elements with a strong foundation in realism and film noir inspired visuals, you get my favorite superhero comic as an adult.

Unfortunately, since Brubaker's depature from the title, I haven't enjoyed Diggle's take on DD and Shadowland was the last straw for me. As of DD #507, I've dropped the title from my pull list in the vain hope that it will improve.

G'day men and women without fear. The name's Marcus, and I'm posting from Perth, Western Australia. I've been collecting DD since 1985, and it could well be said that I'm fanatical about ol' Red. I have to say I'm not exactly over the moon about the direction the book's heading at the moment... I have that same sinking feeling that I had when they put Matt in the armour back in the '90s, but at least they rectified that mistake. Killing Bullseye? NOOOOO!!! For the first time in my life, I actually WANT a story to end with "...and it was all a dream." Oh well, guess we'll have to wait and see what happens. My entire home is furnished with DD paraphernalia (when I can work out how to use my camera, I'll post some pics), and Matt, though a fictional character, has been a guiding light in my life for 25 years. Marvel's new super-villain? Say it ain't so! Anyway, I'll never give up on DD, but I'm going to miss the glory days.
Cheers for putting up with my rant, and until DD kills Bullseye, make mine Marvel. Oh... that's right. D'oh!!!

I discovered this website maybe 8 years ago, I'm very impressed with the way it's been kept up and improved upon over the years. I started reading comics in 1992 at the age of 11, but I didn't get into Daredevil until Kevin Smith's run. I've been reading ever since and obviously I've added all of Frank Miller's work to my collection.
I feel like I registered for the message boards here a long time ago, but I must have lost the info, because I recently registered. I've never really been the type to get into internet discussions, but the discussions here seem like something I could be involved in.
As for my DD credentials, I've had a DD logo tattooed on my chest since 2003, not that I love DD that much, but I got it for superheroes in general and anybody can get an "S" or a bat, but it takes a real superhero fanatic to get a DD tattoo, especially after that movie. I didn't think it was horrible, but it's pretty universally derided... but I digress. Also, I dressed my one-year-old son in a homemade DD costume for Halloween last year, complete with wooden dowels painted red and put in a cell-phone holster I also painted red. I'll probably send in pics some day.

Hey my name Is Matt, i'm from Ontario Canada just outside Toronto. i've skimmed through this website for almost a year and i haven't really taken the time till now to sign up so i just thought i'd introduce myself. i've collected comics since i was 10 years old and have been interested in the characters since before i could remember.

i grew up interested in Spiderman and Batman (found out about Daredevil in the 90's Spiderman show), saw the 2003 movie and was so so about it (the directors cut was a huge improvement) but fans still haven't had a DD movie that's given them justice (pun intended) Razz. the first Daredevil comic book (in graphic novel format) i read was Brubakers "The Devil in Cell Block D" which left quite an impression on me so it's been my favourite for years as opposed to the cult favourite Born Again (also an amazing read). Bendis had the best run (in my opinnion), Brubaker had my favourite novel but Miller innovated the title for all this to be possible. Matt Murdock is easily my favourite comic book character because i sappose he is the most relatable to me. so that's alittle about me and i look foreward to talking online.

Hello hello, glad to be here. I'm new to the forum.

I'm mostly a DC guy but I've been reading Daredevil for about a year now. I've obviously read the Miller stuff, some Nocenti and then everything starting with Smith up through today.

Daredevil without a doubt is my favorite Marvel character.
