This is the work of an Elektra-clone and not the real Elektra. Miller's Elektra no longer appears in Marvel comics.

Issue #37 was the worst characterization of Matt Murdock by Bendis!. Matt being portrayed as a (still) love sick puppy in Elektra's presence (while she is cold and unfeeling) is stupid. The characteriztions (if Miller's Elektra still existed) should have been reversed. It is Elektra who should feel vulneable in Matt's presence. Matt always reminded her of a time when she was not cold. This is the reason why she couldn't kill Foggy. Matt made her weak, took away her edge (ie. made her feel something, like compassion) and, because of that, she loved him. And, hated him at the same time.

I'm done here.

Agreed. I would love that when it came down to it in the end Matt died in Elektra's arms or something awfully corny like that. But Miller's Elektra has been gone for a long long time. As for issue 37 I think that was the point in which we were to believe how over it really was. I thought Bendis did a good job with that. But Yeah, I don't think Elektra and Daredevil will ever come together again... that's why I made this thread.

Yes. I completely agree with you on this.

As well as Bendis has written great, great characterization with Matt Murdock, this particular instance felt waaaaaaay "off" and not at all like the "real" (i.e. Miller's) Elektra.

People want to talk about "contrived" THAT whole thing was contrived.

I can't help but think that once Bendis and Maleev leave that will not ring the end to Milla Donovan. Firstly, because Bendis's friend (which had already been stated in a previous thread that a Bendis friend in the business... and my money is STILL on Ed Brubaker) isn't going to completely cut her right out of the series with a snap of their fingers and a wiggle of their nose(just as Bob Gale's "Kate" had been). Milla holds a lot in the current continuity of this series, to cut her out would be to gut the bulk of the work that Bendis had labored over the last four-plus years. It would be pretty cold and heartless of this "new writer" to do, if you ask me.

The only person that would cut Milla, so abruptly, from the series like that would be Bendis himself. But seeing as how it is apparent to me (and, I believe, a number of other posters, here, on this board, as well) Bendis has a great affection for Milla as a character that he had created, I don't believe Bendis would have the heart to kill off a character that he has so much fondness for.

But Bendis has done that once before, though, hasn't he?

I was soooo sure that Agent Driver was going to stick on this series (he was becoming such a great, great seconary character, I thought) until Bendis gave him a brutal exit..... and even after the first initial reading of that whole situation with the Yazuka shooting him up, I was still quite sure that he had survived that (it IS still a comic book, after all)... but, alas, poor Harold Driver, may he rest in pieces... er, peace.

I have a feeling Miss Milla Donavan (or Mrs. Milla Murdock, depending on how you see it) will be a player in this series for a while more yet, unless Bendis, himself, has a say in the matter.

Indeed, aside from Frankiln and Blake Tower, Matt has not interacted with the legal community at all! Kate is one of many supporting characters (Willie Lincoln is another) whose return would be welcome.

I don't understand... What is "Franklin and Blake Tower "?

In the series, there have been many supporting characters working in "law jobs" (often DA and not simple attorney, right).
Maxine Lavender in the Miller era.
Kathy Malper in the Chichester run.

"Franklin" Foggy Nelson (Foggy's first name) and Blake Tower was a DA waaaaaay back in the 70's. Foggy ran against him when he ran for District Attorney; the Jester more or less screwed it up for him; and he lost to Tower.

Let's start up by checking out what frank miller said in disc 2 of dd movie . he said matt had to have a girl that was his equal or more he couldnt be waking up with just an ordinary girl beside him . he needs some one who can share the dd part of his life and not feel second rate a real kick ass b----h. that was the genesis of elektra she is ying he is yang
just like adam had eve he had elektra ,his equal,,his mate .

and probably his downfall ( i hope not) a relationship that begat Cain and Abel (marvel hint hint) two badass
it was a relationship that was wild ,passionate unpredictable, uncontrollable by either party much as they both hate to admit it they are each others greatest weakness when it comes to each other they are both handicapped ,nothing can never change what they feel for each other though they mask it with rage and claims of betrayal
and try to avoid each other but they belong to each other.
Bendis got it that concept in issue #37 .
Black widow comes next but her public identity makes it difficult for them to be together (she is old too)and even she recognizes the power elektra has over matt that was why she invited elektra to have a "chat" with matt

karen and milla cant be with matt thay cant be part of the other side of his life they had to leave one way or the other
good riddance
i think matt should chill out with all the love interest and concentrate on his job unless he runs into elektra again of course

an Elektra clone c'mon please, I love miller, support his work on the comic defense fund (with money ($aud peso's admittedly)), but some of the batman drivel he's churned out has me well past elektra being a hands off character.

nowhere has matt ever indicated its really over between them, and matt is an optimist, he believes he can save elektra's soul, she is not damned in his eyes, they might get together when there eating soft food but they will always have that spark- thats the way they've always been written.

matt has always been capable of holding more than one candle, as flawed and as morally dangerous as this is, thats his nature, i would absolutely love to see an arc that had matt being forced to choose between milla/elektra if they both wanted him and nothing was in the way. my money would be on elektra, matt has his sins, he slept with mary out of expediency? was that really his best option? he didn't debrief milla on all his flames did he?, does he need that deceit with elektra? short answer no, is he matched/challenged by elektra-yes. milla as cool as she is, was somone matt could settle for and be in love with, but the boom boom lose yourself....is elektra

btw how much are we projecting our live/loves&experiences into this post?

also that lawyer KV was just a potential notch in the bedpost that would have been resolved by confession.

and fox i agree milla's not done but she's not it forever either very polite but absolute disagreement on the 'wayyy offf' bit

not least to TMWF great topic but please tell me why miller's elektra is gone for all time?? cos he says so?? i want to hear more on why you think there done, i'm really struggling to think of where this has been finished off, yes miller wrote her well but she's such a current part of the marvel universe and therefore matts life that this topic has not been resolved.

mark

just as zealous as ur stubborn.

ps i think the princess bride was a great film and i'm sticking with true love

To be honest it came to me while I was watching the Elektra movie. I kept battling myself trying to accept the fact that Daredevil wasn't even mentioned. Then I thought about how she appeared in Bendis' run (issue 37?) She's just sort of like a ghost there. Then I thought to myself Daredevil doesn't appear in this movie because Elektra's past is completely forgotten to her. She's not the same person she was in the Daredevil film she's blocked it all out. When she popped up in the issue she left matt was he was broken. Now, let's consider love here. If she really loved him anymore would she have just left him there? There was nothing to prove she could've held him or some cheese romantic junk like that. She just took off disappearing out of Matt's life.

Firstly, this is a great, great post, ozddzealot. You bring up some really great points (despite the fact that I hacked the hell out of it to reply to it) on a really very good thread (courtesy of one mister ManWithoutFear).

I was just referring to the fact that Milla Donavan will still stay a part of the series (one way or another) even after Bendis leaves the title. I think her character's appearance has added to the Daredevil/Matt Murdock mythology (no matter how some people find her "blah" and the circumstances of her introduction into Matt's life rather boring). Unless Bendis has a say in the matter, Milla WILL be around for, at the very least, a little bit longer. But I agree with you, whole-heartedly, that Milla is not the "happily ever after" Matt Murdock.

But I'm not sure who it is that is Matt's equal... or who is his "soul mate" (for lack of a better term, esspecially in this context). Sure, Matt is STILL hung up on Elektra (given DD#37)... and Natasha still plays heavily on mind. But, in the present, Matt had discovered his deep committment and love for Milla, emotional breakdown or no emotional breakdown. Whether or not that will change, that can be argued... and given Matt's past with such things as this, it probably will. Just as Foggy had aptly said once, there will always be another hot, little gal just around the corner. But right now, Matt had done a bit of personal soul-searching and he believes, right now in his heart, he loves Milla Donavan. So, again... right now, that transcends his (not so) dormant love for Elektra and that definately, without a doubt, transcends his love/lust for Natasha... as it was deliciously evidenced in "The Widow" arch.

And yes, I agree that "The Princess Bride" was a grrrrreat movie. Smile

"...as you wish."

What? Why should it be any worse for us fangirls (and some fanboys) to lust after Matt than it is for the fanboys (and probably some fangirls) to lust after Natasha? After all, it's fantasy that keeps the real world from destroying us completely, eh?

I propose that rather than fighting over him, we just take out timeshares...after me, you are first. Twisted Evil

Everyone has fantasies (and if they don't, they are fooling themselves). For better or for worst, it is human.

How is it any different from people to fantasize about Jennifer Aniston or Brad Pitt (they're broken up, they're ripe for people to pounce) than say Natasha Romanov, Peter Parker or *gasp* Matt Murdock.

These people are unobtainable, but it is still a fun game of "what if?".

Still, the point was made for the discussion to be kept to subject...

But a "fantasy" thread may not be too out of order. Hmm.....
