The Marvel Superhero stamps are at the post office now, and I am terribly disappointed. Not only did they not put DD on a stamp, they cut the name off the comic!
Just freakin' shameful. _________________ Alice

What? Marvel promoting Elektra over our beloved Daredevil?? Oh, you mean like this:
The only thing crazier than Marvel taking a dump on Daredevil on a consistant basis, is this crazy notion Marvel has that "Elektra" is some sort of hot property. Let's see, two major bombs as comic series and a totally crappy movie. And, yet they stick her on everything Marvel (at the expense of Daredevil). Daredevil is a second class citizen to one of his supporting characters. It's as nuts as them excluding Spidey and replacing him with Black Cat. Fact is, nothing "Elektra" sells (or is it Skullektra??). Anyway, whatever.
It's amazing how Marvel hates Daredevil, yet we are lucky that most all of the DD mythos has had some of the best writing ever.

Firstly, is the promotion of Elektra over DD, sexual in nature? And secondly, it's like Gloria said in the 2nd string thread, there's great benefit in being kind of off the radar. _________________ It's never too late to have a happy childhood! |

Elektra has two things over DD...what fills out that one-shoulder outfit. Evidently that was enough to make the stamp vendors think that would sell more stamps? _________________ Alice

I think it's sad Old Hornhead is so overlooked by Marvel itself , even in this small promotional sideshows.
I think the possible explanation is: the person responsible for that doesn't read comics, and I'd add, doesn't love them: they don't want characters, they want pin-ups. Welcome to the wonderful world of advertising.
(and again, agreed, that this might be not that bad as long as it allows DD to have great stories instead of bumping fron grand event to grand event).
P.S.: there aren't stamps of our boy Nelson, either... this is indeed lame set of Marvel Postage ....shame, shame... _________________ Gloria

This is not a new struggle for DD. Excerpt from Kuljit's interview with Chichester:
Quote: | Mithra: What do like most about the character? the least?
Chichester: His morality. There's a quality of redemption to DD: both his own, and what he generally offers to the other characters he encounters. Along with the relationship to the city, it's a very rich environment for a writer and a reader. He's generally a somewhat more "mature" character, while also preserving the wild adventure that makes action comics so much fun.
The least? The almost complete lack of support he enjoys within his own company. Frankly, your web page is about one thousand times the level of promotion DD's ever seen from Marvel. |
