Unless someone has another suggestion, I'm going to do Playing to the Camera next. After that, I'll do Daredevil 223 (The Gift).
Here is a question it may seem odd that I'm asking now. On October 2, in honor of Luke Cage, I want to do The Paper Chase. However, I really need an answer by July 24. Basically, I need to decide whether to do the entire Elektra Saga or if that story stands well-enough on its own so I don't need to do the whole thing. _________________ Matt Murdock's cooler twin brother

Which issues cover Playing to the Camera and the Paper Chase?
I'm not sure that I understand your question regarding Elektra. Are you referring to the original Elektra Saga by Miller or her Assassin mini or something else entirely? |

Original. The Paper Chase is #178, which takes place during that story.
Playing to the Camera is Vol. 2 #20-25. I'm not sold on the idea, it's just very different, so I thought I'd throw that out there. _________________ Matt Murdock's cooler twin brother

What are people's thoughts on doing either Dark Nights or Black and White? I realize they're much more recent stories, but they're also not part of the main title, so I figured not as many people may have read them. Dark Nights is nice because it's three stories so I could do the first story and then come back later for the others. _________________ Matt Murdock's cooler twin brother

That would be fine with me, although I only remember enjoying Weeks' story. |

Both would be good especially since I've yet to read Black & White. |

OK. Here's the plan right now.
July 17 is Daredevil #223 (Secret Wars II crossover - The Price).
Then I'm going back in time for a three-parter written by Roger McKenize and illustrated by Frank Miller in honor of August 7's release of the Daredevil Annual co-written by McKenzie (I figured Echo: Vision Quest wasn't the greatest idea and we already did Parts of a Hole).
Then I'll go with Daredevil: Battlin' Jack Murdock. After that, the three-part Daredevil Dark Nights with Lee Weeks.
Next, we'll have to see. I'm checking to see The Paper Chase works as a stand alone story or not. If it doesn't, I'll go with Daredevil: Cage Match instead. Either way, I want to do something in honor of Luke Cage.
After that, I'll try and figure things out again. Black and White is a possibility. If anyone has any Doctor Strange-related suggestions, I'd love to do that (the only thing I can think of is Guardian Devil).
Obviously, if anyone has any objections, I can change things up. _________________ Matt Murdock's cooler twin brother

Sorry, Daredevil: Battlin' Jack, not Daredevil: Father. I'll edit my post.
Yeah, not only do I not want to do Father again, I'd like to pretend we never did it in the first place _________________ Matt Murdock's cooler twin brother

So it's no secret that the Book Club has kind of declined it participation recently. While I think it's a lovely idea (and has gotten me to read much more), I don't want to continue it if no one is really interested.
Don't worry, I still want to continue it at least for the premiere of Luke Cage. Ideally, I'd like to go with Daredevil #178 (The Paper Chase) and Power Man & Iron Fist # 77 (What's Black and White and Red All Over?), but the latter is probably impossible for anyone to get legitimately online (I have it through Essential Power Man and Iron Fist Vol. 2, but that's hardly ideal). The other plan is Daredevil: Cage Match.
If people really want me to, I'm happy to continue. I haven't run out of ideas yet. Alternatively, if someone else wants to take over, I'm happy to give them the opportunity. But, even if we give it a rest for now, I'm happy to bring it back when something relevant is happening either in comics today or the MCU.
So please chime in with two things. Is it worth continuing the Book Club right now? And would people prefer the more accessible Cage Match or the Paper Chase and Luke Cage follow-up instead? _________________ Matt Murdock's cooler twin brother

I personally have been enjoying Book Club, but it's up to you if you want to continue it. It feels like we have hit on most of the major stories.
As for Luke Cage, I don't think Cage Match is a significant work at all, so I would go with Paper Chase.
One last thing: We should probably return to Bendis and cover "Out." I think Bendis has grown to be a somewhat controversial figure on this site, or at least polarizing. Some people seem to revere him, while others (like myself) find him overrated.
But it's up to you. |

I'm still for it. I plan on continuing to contribute when work and Real Life allow for it but it's still good seeing all the different opinions on stories and minis that may not be as well known as others.
I would also second the choice for Paper Chase. |

OK. I'm sold. I'm happy to continue. I'd also love to do Out. I always hesitate to do Bendis because it lasts for a long time so it's hard to back out if no one is watching (it'll run for about six issues to go through Dancing Between the Raindrops). But I'm happy to do it.
I can do it as early as October 16. Alternatively, I really wanted to do the creation of Blackheart (DD 270) at some point and Halloween-ish seemed appropriate. I was wondering if people were interested in the opening half of what's usually called the Lone Stranger arc - essentially Cremains (#267) to Blackheart (#270). As an added bonus, the weird trippy one can come out just in time for Doctor Strange. It's somewhat disjointed overall, but it definitely stands out as distinct from the issues that follow and works as a fairly self-contained arc.
So let me know if you want to do the Out arc on October 16 or the Lone Stranger arc on October 16 (with Out to start November 13). _________________ Matt Murdock's cooler twin brother
