Woops, fixed the dates. You can join in if you want. Although I'll say that, if you get Guardian Devil, it'll probably arrive by week three or four so you can certainly catch up pretty quickly. _________________ Matt Murdock's cooler twin brother

I don't think anyone has mentioned it yet, but In the next few reviews, we should consider End of Days. I haven't chatted about it with anyone yet. Would love to hear others thoughts. |

Interesting idea. I don't have it, so I'd have to special-purchase it for the book club (which means it'll set back other purchases on my budget). Does anyone know how spoiler-y it is for the main continuity? _________________ Matt Murdock's cooler twin brother

Since it takes place at an undetermined time in the future, I don't think it spoils any continuity. There are a few things that come to light that will happen between now and then, but I don't think it really affects any current story. I have only read it once, when it came out in singles, but that's my recollection. I can't wait to read it again. |

OK. We can add it to the list. Maybe we should do a poll for the next story, we have a couple of good suggestions. _________________ Matt Murdock's cooler twin brother

This book club is a stellar idea and since I do own Parts, I can participate now.
Although I am interested to see how you all will handle any (or all) Bendis issues. I don't own any of his run and frankly, given the issues I have with his current style of writing, I feel no pressing need to ever read any of it, regardless of the critical and fan praise it's received over the years. So I'm waiting to see if all of your thoughts and opinions are enough to possibly sway my own opinion on the matter. |

While I was excited at the idea of doing Bendis's work, the overwhelming majority of his stories are not conducive to a one issue a week format. There simply isn't enough meat in just one issue under his style (which must have been frustrating to those who pay several dollars for one story a month from him). That being said, I would not be opposed to being proven wrong. I could see a story like Trial of a Century being easier to review than something like Wake Up. _________________ Matt Murdock's cooler twin brother

Although we could try it by doing, say, two or three issues a week, or a story line a week(although we would blow through his run pretty quickly at that rate). I would be down for participating in the book club for Bendis' run. Even though I didn't participate in the Guardian Devil run, I enjoyed other people's thoughts on it.
I would also love to see people's thoughts on older runs in the series as well, and mini series as well. |
