Issue Summary

The first page finds the Kingpin reading a newspaper account of the murders at the church from last issue. He says 'Touché, my prestidigitator friend. It's a far cry from a nursing home scam.' So the Kingpin knows who the mystery villain is...

The scene shifts to Matt's apartment, where he is obviously distraught over Karen's death. He puts a gun to his head.

Flashback to a conversation between Matt and Karen. They talk about Matt's responsibility of being DD and being at home for Karen.

Back to present, Matt screams in anger and smashes everything in the apartment.

More flashback, we find out Karen doesn't Matt to ever quit being DD.

Back to present again, Matt promises out loud. He puts on his mask. Meanwhile, Mr. Macabes informs his men that 'He'll be coming soon. Prepare the gauntlet.'

At Ennis' tavern, Turk is discussing how he 'killed' Daredevil once. DD sneaks behind him and grabs hold of him. If you look closely, you'll see Preacher, Marv from Sin City, Dillon ale, and other cameos in the bar.

DD holds Turk upside down from the top of a building. He demands to know anything about Mr. Macabes' activity in New York. Turk says the old man was recruiting thugs at his office at 387 Park Ave. (which is Marvel's offices...). DD leaves Turk hanging on the side of the building and heads to Park Ave.

An office worker sees DD approaching and Macabes can see everything going on through his monitors. The worker is instructed to shoot to wound. DD hears all of this, of course, and launches his billy club through the window, taking out the worker. Macabes then sends 'The Hand' after DD, but DD realizes the group of ninja is not the Hand. He defeats them easily. Macabes instructs Mr. Gabriel to make preparations. He puts on the White Noise to mask his transmissions.

DD climbs into the elevator shaft since the elevators aren't working. Macabes presses some buttons 'Door' and 'Hell' and the elevator shaft turns into a 'Hell' for DD. Souls claw at him and one of them is Karen. DD tries to get away and manages to pull something off one of the souls. He falls back with the material in his hands. Baal is waiting for him there. He tells DD that he is DD's Guardian Angel and is here to help him. He explains how he got there and what they must do to stop Macabes. DD starts having doubts, since he realizes the material in his hands is synthetic. DD punches Baal in the chest and squeezes, knocking Baal unconcious. DD rips apart Baal's costume to reveal Mr. Gabriel. DD has no idea who Mr. Gabriel is, of course...

Macabes watches all this and we notice that he's pulling off his disguise...

DD tries to locate Macabes' heartbeat and gets a lock on him.

Macabes puts on some gloves...

DD smashes his way into the room with Macabes... only to find himself before...

Mysterio!
