The Black Widow picks herself up from the ground and attacks the Unholy Three while Becky, Debbie, and the partially-conscious Foggy watch on. She subdues Bird Man, but Ape Man and Cat Man kidnap Matt from the Storefront.
The villains take him uptown to a small cemetery where the Death-Stalker is waiting. After he pays the second "Unholy Three" (the first ones died in Iron Man v1 #116) for their services, he recounts his earlier criminal exploits as the Exterminator (#41).
He reminds Murdock how he "destroyed" his life when he caused his experimental Time-Displacement Ray to explode and trapped him in limbo. He was eventually able to return to their home dimension and steal the design specifications for a "cybernetic death grip" from A.I.M. and built them into his gloves. He then demonstrates the gloves purpose by killing his henchmen. He demands that Murdock change to Daredevil and face him.
Murdock reluctantly complies and engages in battle with his crazed adversary. His ability to phase in and out of reality makes the fight more difficult. Murdock eventually gains the advantage by shattering the only light source . a nearby street light - plunging the entire area into complete darkness.
The Death-Stalker becomes quickly frustrated with the darkness and begins
to lash out at any- and everything, allowing Murdock to connect multiple
times. Death-Stalker is unaware of his surroundings and solidifies in the
middle of a tombstone, killing him instantly.
