Issue Summary

Summary by Kevin Hollander

The Avengers, Fantastic Four, and Power Man & Iron Fist stop by to visit Daredevil while he's in the ICU to offer their assistance if she needs it. Eventually Daredevil is removed from the critical list and moved to another room.

Once Daredevil has recovered, Ben Urich pays him a visit. He tells Daredevil of the evidence he has compiled that indicates that he's Matt Murdock. Reluctant to admit it at first, he eventually confesses when he is shown a picture of his father Jack Murdock.

Matt then tells Ben about his father and his life prior to becoming Daredevil. His father's insistence that he focus on academics rather than athletics. He went so far as to allow "Fixer" Sweeney to manage what was left of his boxing career. Sweeney was a corrupt businessman, but Jack had little choice since nobody else would take him on. He chose this path to ensure that Matt would have money for college. He briefly explains the accident that gave him his powers and how his life changed as a result. Under Sweeney, Jack continued to fight and surprisingly win his matches. Eventually Sweeney informed him that all the fights were rigged and it was his turn to take a fall . or else. Jack refused to throw the fight as instructed and was later killed. To avenge his father's death, Matt created the first Daredevil costume and went after The Fixer and his mob. After knocking all of them out, Daredevil follows Sweeney into the subway. The stress of being chased caused Sweeney to die on the spot due to cardiac arrest. Urich agrees to keep Murdock's secret since he knows his crusade as Daredevil is invaluable to the city.
