Another arc and we have another mastermind. Anyone want to guess who this new mastermind is?

Here is a good theory from another board:

Wasn't Beck dead (not that this is irrevocable, in the MU)? I didn't like him as a DD villain, much ado about nothing and he's waay too a second rate baddie...

I'll think that suggestions elsewhere of both Mr. Fear and the Purple man are likely choices... not to forget how manipulative did the Ringmaster get in the "playing to the camera" story.

Another Villain, though not related to DD, (though his daughter Martinique made a brief appearance in the series), which can manipulate minds is Jason Wyngarde, a.k.a. Mastermind... hey, if he could drive the mighty Phoenix to the edge, he shouldn't have much trouble with Potter... Wyngarde is dead according to Marvel continuity, but since death seems to take a holiday every then and now in the MU... well, who knows: and again, he's left children behind him.

As for other candidates, and since Brubaker seemed to hint that it was an old and much forgotten foe, what about the Masked Marauder? He turned out to be Nelson and Murdock's landlord... maybe he seeks revenge against Matt and Foggy regarding some unpaid rent?

Beck, we all know, shoot himself in the head. Yet...

And you complained about Mysterio being way too a second rate baddie.

LOL, touché Wink

Masked Marauder is actually nearer to third-rate baddie (though his being a landlord adds a more sinister side), but I was intrigued by Brubaker's mention of Bullseye starting as a minor, run-of-the-mill villain, and developing into a major DD nemesis... So I wouldn't discard anyone, for a start... I don't mind mr. Brubaker giving me a big, unexpected surprise, so far he's been fairly good at it.

The stilt-man, anyone? Razz

MM doesn't have the ability to warp people's minds though, plus he is dead, Punisher killed him recently.

Bru said it was an old forgotten DD villain, Beck doesn't fit that profile.

My favorite choice would definitely be Ringmaster. I love the fit between his ~ability and Matt's ~disability.

Second would be MindWave. Razz

Third is Purple Man.

I would love for it to be the Deathstalker. Maybe he's changed again since he came back from the dead this time. He already changed once when he transformed from the Exterminator. Maybe in his new form he can take people over.

If Mind-Wave comes back does that mean the return of his arch nemesis, Uri Geller?

Mind-wave should never, ever underestimate Uri's amazing spoon-bending habilities... lest he doesn't want to eat his soup proper for the rest of his life. Rolling Eyes

What about the latest Mysterio, Francis Klum? Besides having acquired Beck's gadgets, he was a teleporter, and had also the peculiarity of being able to mind control people, by "teleporting" thoughts in their minds.
Still, not an old villain.

I have the reprints of his encounters with DD. A fascinating villain, considering it was the Stan Lee era.

Death's Head just came to my mind.

I know the character is supposedly dead (but with all those skrulls around..., LOL), and has no know Psychic powers. But his connection with a character who was very relevant to Daredevil, scientific background and his possible reasons plot against Murdock strike me as interesting to keep in mind (he could just hire the services of a Psychic, couldn't he?).

I like the Mr. Fear argument the best, based on all the fear hints Bru seems to be dropping.
Plus, doesn't it seem like Melvin's worst fear has been realized, that he is a monster. Maybe Mr. Fear has developed his powers to a new level, to actually understand a person's innermost fears and manipulate them into becoming reality.

I'd bet my cat that it is Mr. Hyde behind all this.
