What with the (great!) cover of DD #100 and the hype about NA #31, I'm worried that the 'revelation' in NA is going to pull DD into the thick of the MU.
I mean, the presence of the ninjas and Elektra in both books and the storyline of the NA up to this point make me think they could bring our man Murdock into the mess.
Please, convince me that I'm wrong or that it wouldn't be so bad or that it would be great.
[Imagine: the NA and DD facing combined foes, DD under the Bendis pen again, and then add SHIELD up into the mix - Oh, the woe that could be heaped upon our fictional friends!] |

First, I don't think you have anything to worry about. The event in NA will just be some silly Bendis idea out of left field (from the adjacent ballpark). Not a subtle event like DD flying out to Japan to help fight ninjas.
Think Avenger's Disassembled. The underlying event/character behind that story was spontaneously thrown into a hole that she really didn't seem to fit into, if you ask me. Bendis seemed to revel in throwing that curve ball. House of M was more logical but Bendis still goes for the same "what the heck?!" effect in any big event. Think about his plans for The Hood being the kingpin of supervillains. If this upcoming "no hype" last page of NA does not reveal that The Hood/Void was behind Civil War, it will be something equally silly and huge, well above the radar of our favorite hero.

Well, I have almost unlimited faith in Brubaker's writing, so there is no question that I would continue to pick up DD while Brubaker is onboard. I really couldn't see myself picking up NA, even if DD joined up. Pre-Civil War, I would have thought about it. Now, nothing would bore me more that watching DD get tangled up in Civil War/Initiative nonsense.
So, if the worst happens, just do what I do and ignore it. I can't stand the current direction of Marvel but I still love the current DD books, so I pick them up. Then, with all the money I save not buying the half dozen Avengers titles, Ms. Marvel, Iron Man, etc., I pick up stuff I actually like, Countdown, Green Lantern, Checkmate, Flash, etc. _________________ "Flash is back. Well, the good side of it is that, most of the times when Bendis writes a team-up in which DD appears, he makes old hornhead stand out of the mass.
The bad side is that:
1) Bendis is not very good at writing Avengers titles.
2) "No Hype!" events usually lack real contents. |

I'm mostly worried that DD's involvement will be ancillary to the 'big reveal' - that he'll be pulled in as a symptom.
It kind of makes sense, right? The NA have lots of members with whom DD has prior relationships, they're mostly "street-level" heroes, etc.
Mabe it's purely symbolic, since the copy from Marvel says it will "bring his past ot life . . "
Sorry to be such a chicken.
I don't think I could bear to see DD sucked into the middle of things. |

I don't have to worry about either of these because I don't read New Avengers.

...good points. It would be a nightmare if Bendis pulled DD into his next-big-event mess and the mess that is the post-Civil War Marvel U. Still, I'm going to stay positive because I'm getting better at ignoring what is going on outside of the Marvel books I do read. If this creeps into Brubaker's DD, then I'm not too worried because Brubaker is amazing. The Captain America and Winter Soldier Civil War issues he wrote were the only CW related issues that I liked and he actually did a very good job. Likewise, even if the next big event starts in New Avengers, affects DD and is as badly written/plotted as Civil War, I still have faith that Brubaker would tackle the ongoing DD title with his usual skill and respect. _________________ "Flash is back. As with anything in the Marvel Universe they will find a way to sneak past everything in current titles that come out at the same time and deal with the consequences a few months later. It probaly won't be that bad but still it's like any other book. Marvel has that problem for some reason. There writers really don't care what each other do until later. For example, Daredevil and Runaways. Kingpin has given up his empire but according to Runaways he's still Kingpin. I'm sure after the arc things will be clared up but still.
I'm currently reading both Daredevil and New Avengers monthly and I think that either way you cut it will turn out fine. |

Oh gosh, you're right, the Runaways are meeting with Kingpin in NY after Civil War. |
