(Spoilers, I guess)
Hi people. Today I had the happy idea of visiting Newsarama's Joe Fridays.
Same old things, JQ answering to the whole bitching about H4H #13 cover (the hentai porn one), a bit of World War Hulk talking, some stuff about Civil War repercussions thrown in for good measure... you know, the usual.
Until I take a look at the last picture on the page. New Avengers #34, as it seems.
http://www.newsarama.com/NewJoeFridays/NewJoeFridays49.html
Now. I didn't think it would've ever happened. And I'm not referring to the new Cap, or to Hawkeye being Ronin, or to Luke Cage being in his old outfit.
It's abominable!
I sincerely hope this turns out to last only an issue, or to be one of those imaginary things. But you know, recently I kind of lost hope in Marvel... |

After clicking on the image and checking out a larger version, the Daredevil is definitely a woman...so we either have nothing to worry about (which I'm currently leaning towards) or TONS to worry about! _________________ https://twitter.com/tburnham7

Nothing to worry:
1) a "Daredame" with no Murdock connection, and hopefully little interference with the Daredevil series (possible candidates: any lame ersatz Elektras like Maya Lopez, though Sister Maggie as DD would be really a hoot)
2) an "alternate universe" scenario, again, no -or little-fear of interference, with the regular series.

deadly worried about...
The "Glenn or Glenda" (or "Matt or Mattie") scenario! "in this issue, Marvel gives Ed Wood a much deserved homage"

It looks alternate universe. I hope, hope, hope, hope the female DD is actually Elektra. At least then we'd all know for certain that Bendis has lost it completely.
PS Ronin's new identity is hilarious. _________________ JC

No, guys...it's an homage to DAREDIVA. Hahahahahahaha.
Very scary looking cover. _________________ Alice

Bendis's explination of it is even more hilarious. What happened to you, Bendis? He really believes his own bullsh*t. For heaven's sake, you can basically see him making this up as he goes. Me thinks he's shaving that bald head a little too close! Better take a step back from the "Quatro" and go back to the Mach 3 razor.
By the way, the double D's on this DD's chest have never looked better Seriously, guys and gals, that joke wrote itself.

p.s. I haven't said it in while, so I'm sure you are all waiting for it. Joey Q. is a chimp. |

I think that the whole "who is Ronin?" concept is in itself hilarious. |

Mmmh! just another possible scenario came to my mind. Daredevil, as a series, hasn't used time-travelling in its plots . However, this issue is not uncommon in Avengers, baxter building dwellers or Mutant comics.
So-o-o... here comes another possibility (far-fetched, but you never know what lurks in the minds of writers): Dare She-Devil is none other than... little Karen!! who has travelled to the past with some lame excuse .
Now you can sweat... cold sweat. _________________ Gloria

But the idea of a female daredevil is totally disappointing.
Daredevil is unique as a superhero. It's not a character identity you can indifferently give another sex and have the female version, or give to a dog, a la Superman. |

You know what I mean. I don't know why Bendis insists on mentioning Daredevil and Matt Murdock even when he clearly has no more good ideas about him.
"Hey Elektra! I have a message from Murdock!"
::kick in the groin::
"I so much admire what DD does by putting on the costume and patrol the streets, smashing evil. You know, I think I'm gonna emulate him by becomind Daredame! The Femme without fear!" |

Sweet fancy moses that's a scary idea. Bendis seems crazy enough to do it.
I think at the end of the day my new conclusion is that Bendis is all about the kick ass noir detective stories and simply inept at writing superhero books. Someone stop the madness. _________________ JC

Yes, I think that Matt is very out of place in standard super-hero titles (and more in Bendis' NA), and should be left out of that world: Galactic nonsense and juggling with alternate realities may work in a Cosmic or Mutant supergroup, but Daredevil's best stories are those grounded in Hell's Kitchen.
DD is a hero more by sheer will than by mighty superpowers, and essentially, a detective in costume: his wits are as important as his sommersaults over the NY skiline. _________________ Gloria

YAY!!!
Seriously, I think the next big Marvel event should be Beyonder vs. Galactus vs. Baby Karen. I'd buy double copies of that one!
Or for a more street level twist, Baby Karen should be Ronin #27 (2018). _________________ "Flash is back. Worlds will die again!" |
