What did everyone think of the latest issue of DD?
I really liked it. This new mastermind villain is just nasty. He destroying Melivin's life and slaugthering innocent people, just to torment DD. This interesting, besides Kingpin, DD has had few foes that are both intelligent and ruthless. With the last arc, it was dissapointing that Vanessa Fisk was sick and DD couldn't hit her. I hope with this arc, DD gives this creep the beating of his life, teach these psychopaths to stop messing with his' life. It is time for DD to go on the offensive and beat the crap out of this sadistic SOB.
Anyone want to guess who this new villain really is? |

Great as always. I also picked up Ultimate SM today and it was a reminder of how much I don't miss Bendis' self-aware tongue-in-cheek nonsense. Between Ultimate Elektra and Ultimate SM, I also have no idea how old Matt is supposed to be...?
OK, so this issue.
Bru packs it in. No wasted panels, no unrelated subplots-- just driven story. I loved the last panel of the bar seen! I love that Turk is being reeled in every few issues. I also love the detective angle-- DD at the bathtub is a great moment. So is Matt's comment to Lily over coffee. One must appreciate the continuity in showing Milla in her underwear yet again... just great all around.
If Bru reads this, I would have only one suggestion, and maybe it's just because I'm a long time reader.
Stop with the masterminds. Really. Yes, I love this arc, I really do, but I would REALLY love to see DD solve some crimes and save some lives that are NOT part of someone's demented plan to ruin his life. Go for a big plan, big coverup, whatever. But I want to see DD save more than just his own @$$ every now and then. Consider it.
Well, that's all, folks! |

Just got mine today, and I must say...that was a long roundabout way to get Milla back on the page in her skivvies.
If Brubaker is reading this...can you write something where I (yes, I'm being greedy here!) get to see Matt in a nice shower scene or something? I know Lark can come up with it for us fangirls. Well, Gloria got her money shot with Foggy and the bowtie this issue.
But, I digress. Ratcheting up the tension quite nicely in the issue! _________________ Alice

While I wasn't too enthuastic about the first two arcs, after Vanessa Fisk appeared I started warming up to it. Does anyone think Melvin's Potter daughter will make an appearence? Thats one subplot I'd like to see wrapped up.
One thing I don't want to see happen is Milla get killed off and Lily become Matt's new girlfriend, which does seem to be the situation that its veering to. Obviously I'm probably underestimating Brubaker like when he 'killed' off Foggy but I'm still a bit worried. |

I'm with you on this one. I'd really like for there to be a little life left in Milla (no pun intended) after this arc. _________________ Alice

I'm in agreement here. I also hope that Brubaker taking an entire issue to show Milla's point of view as well as providing a little bit of her history is a sign that her doom isn't imminent. What would have been the point in issue #94 if they were just going to turn around and off her in the next handful of issues? _________________ https://twitter.com/tburnham7

Issue #94, for me, left me to believe that the marriage is ill-fated, and is nearing it's end. (Fine with me.) I don't think Brubaker is going to kill her. That's not his style.
I loved this issue. It felt like classic Daredevil with the office scenes, but Melvin's brutality brought something new. This is the Gladiator's darkest moment. |

*cough* Captain America *cough*
I thought this was one of the best DD issues yet. Taut, efficient storytelling, real tension and drama, and great art. Review up soon (in which I'll say the same thing, but using more words). |

Loved it! Brubaker, Lark and Hollingsworth were born to make this book! I would say DD has not been this good since the first Bendis/Maleev arc but in truth, I don't think Daredevil has been this good since Chichester (or since Nocenti for you anti-Chichester types ).
I can not imagine how good this book will be with another year or two of Brubaker and Lark on the title! XD _________________ "Flash is back. Worlds will die again!" |

I don't intend to stray from this thread's topic too long, but I am aware that we actually saw Cap's corpse. However, I also heard that Ed Brubaker podcast. Steve Rogers won't be dead for long. If Brubaker doesn't have the heart to kill Foggy Nelson, he certainly can't off Captain America for good. If her were to kill Milla, it would be for good, and I don't think that's his style. He doesn't needlessly throw characters out of his toolbox. |

Yes, I agree. Cap won't be dead for long.
However, Milla is far less established as a character even than Foggy, so it's more plausible that Brubaker could kill her off...
Just a thought, but I noted that Melvin appears maskless in the final scene, when his face has been covered throughout the rest of the issue: I wonder if it's symbolic of him coming to his senses (or being released from his master's spell)? If so, Milla's in less danger than it would appear. |

It's the Corruptor. Maybe controlled by the Hood? |

It isn't either of those two, remeber the villain is supposed to be one of DD's old enemies, since when did either of those count as old enemies? Besides this is way too personal to be either of those two, Corruptor or Hood would just kill DD to take HK, neither would waste time tormenting him. This villain is clearly someone with a grudge against DD, Mr. Fear or Purple man can warp the human mind and fit the M.O better than Corruptor.

This begs the question, even though Melvin was acting under mind control, can he be redeemed after all this? |
