You are going to be stuck on an island with only one issue of DD and one trade. Which is it?

(You can post a runner-up or two but no ties because sometimes life just isn't fair. Razz)

Single Issue: DD vol. 1 #12 - Stan Lee, JRSr., Jack Kirby and Ka-Zar --> Swashbuckling DD at his finest! Very Happy

Trade: Essential DD vol. 1 - This was a tough pick but there is no other place with this much old school DD goodness and Stan Lee really knew how to write Matt's supersenses (second only to Chichester in this regard).

Trade Runner-Ups: DD Visionaries Vol. 2 (#168-182) and DD/Punisher (Lapham mini)

Wait . . . there is something familiar about this thr . . . oh, yeah, now I remember!

Here comes trouble.

Anyway, yeah, I would have to go with Elisha Cuthbert this time. Razz

I'd be keen to take my whole collection (including even the armoured grey suit ones). However, just to play the game...

Single issue: Vol. 2 #88
Trade: "Born Again"

Oh, yeah!

Single issue: Volume 1, #304 "34 Hours" (I wanted a good stand-alone, you know?) Chichester's really growing on me.

Trade: Wake Up

I had a strong suspicion that someone had done this before. Sorry about that!

No, no, not at all. It was just the desert island part (with CD's I think) and as I recall that was some thread.

But, anyway, along with Elisha, I'd take:

Born Again (trade) and

"A Beer With the Devil" (#266), by Ann Nocienti.

Hmm this is an interesting one, if I could take a single issue of anything it would be MK Elektra #23, a wonderful single issue story, with another excellent single issue follow up in #24.

But DD issue would be V2#75, the 5th part of Decalogue. This is mainly for the art, feeling of the book and tieing up of the plot threads. I find that DD is usually long story arcs so I find it hard to judge single issues of DD with any sense of completeness or satisfaction with a single issue (if this makes sense).

TPB is hard, choice would be between "Welcome back Frank", Ultimates V1 HC, Ultra by Luna Bros, The Losers V1 by Andy Diggle & Jock, "Mother Russia" Max Pun or Fell HC by Warren Ellis. The winner by a short nose at the moment would be the Fell HC, being pushed all the way by Ultimates V1.

Out of interest, did you mean favourite DD trade or any trade?

I meant DD but any is cool, too. You picks are interesting, especially considering I never hear anything good about the Elektra solo series.

If I had to pick non-DD desert island comic goodness:

Trade: Green Lantern: Rebirth

...I can't think of a single non-DD issue...

Single Issue: Daredevil #81 - Murdock Papers Conclusion - Even though it all turned out to be a fake-out, just the idea of Matt breaking out of police custody and boning down with Elektra was really awesome.

Trade: "Love's Labor Lost" - by Denny O'Neil & David Mazzucchelli

Single issue would be The Backwards Man by Nocenti just because it was my first DD comic and I love it.

Trade would be Born Again. All Daredevil stories before and after are footnotes to Born Again.

D'oh, sorry, the only DD tpb that I own is Born Again, I enjoyed the first half but not the second as much, kinda lost some of the impact for me. Possibly to be naff, I'd say a tpb of Decalogue, (I could pick another single issue then!) I really liked in this story how we got to see how Hell's Kitchen regards DD, I always felt that under Bendis! and Maleev, that they created a Hell's kitchen persona, it really was at the forfront in this arc.

Regarding the MK Elektra, some was crap, some was amazing. #23 that I refer to was ripped of and used in the film right at the start, best part of film in my opinion. After the cool start sequence she changes character into something different, another missed opportunity. The comic and #24 are even better, all about the atmosphere that the character creates and not just the character, it was great to see the environment interacting with the character rather than the other way round. Great writing from Robert Rodi, dunno what he's doing now though....?

My single issue would be #1, not just cause it started it all, but because it was a great tale of heroism on many levels. Runnerup is #304.

My trade would be Visionaries Vol. 2. Runnerup=Underboss.

My Frank Miller DD Omnibus would make for great reading under the light from the ocean side fire, that was so happened lit by the pages of DD: Target. This issue has its use afterall. Wink
