Now, if you could only explain it to Mark Steven Johnson.
And, I did notice.
What can I say? I felt smug.

I suppose my only excuse for missing it is that I ride the short bus.
(I was apparently so dim-witted, it took me a while to try and figure out what was actually be said in this thread)

Just in case you have no idea what Mr. Brubaker is talking about...
Issue 98 - Previously in Daredevil page says:
"Attorney Matt Murdock is blind, but his other four senses function with super-human sharpness to form a radar ability. With amazing fighting skills, he stalks the streets at night in relentless pursuit of justice as DAREDEVIL, the MAN WITHOUT FEAR!"
Issue 99 - Previously in Daredevil page says:
"Though attorney Matt Murdock is blind, his other senses function with superhuman sharpness -- his radar sense guides him over every obstacle. With amazing fighting skills, he stalks the streets at night in relentless pursuit of justice as DAREDEVIL, the MAN WITHOUT FEAR!" _________________ Kuljit Mithra

I guess I'm just so used to it saying the same thing that I simply skipped right over it. Or, in reality, it's part of the comic where the print is so small I can no longer read it without my trusty magnifier, so I didn't bother. As I get more "print impaired", these things get less of my attention.
I am glad to see it revert to the former phrasing, however.
Oh, that reminds me...sometimes that page is also printed in a color combination that is practically illegible. I wish *they* wouldn't do that! _________________ Alice

I'm afraid I won't be happy until it reverts to the one that called him a "Crimson Swashbuckler". _________________ JC

... And very hard to print, too, it is: small sized white type over a four process colour is always a challenge to a printer (even with the trustiest of Heildelbergs at the side).
I admit I hadn't noticed about the change: since I have already read the previous issue, I always skip that page and go straight to the comic.
Oh, and I subscribe Castle's statement _________________ Gloria

To the writer's credit, I have no time for the "previously in", as it always says the same thing. Except this time. And who you calling a whiner, anyway? Kiss-up? Maybe. _________________ It's never too late to have a happy childhood! |

It wasn't always this way. I've been reading the DC Showcase reprints of the silver age stories when the intro would be different every issue and usually preview the story.
It's all in my developing list of soap box rants about what the silver age did better.
P.S. I love everything you're doing on the book, Ed. I'm just knocking modern comics as a whole with the decompression, lack of editorial notes (the *'s) and no more thought balloons, etc. (Because comics should feel like a different medium than television.) _________________ "Flash is back. Hurray for the radar sense!
Thanks for bringing back the classic feel to DD again Ed. You made it enjoyable for me again. I'm glad to read your DD stories (and your CAP too) BTW the Winter Soldier rules! (I just had to say that, sorry ) _________________ "This isn't hell, but you can see it from here." -The Crow |

I'm really happy with the change at the beginning of the comics. It just makes sense that DD's radar sense is its own ability, and not the by-product of his hearing. As cool as the "echo-location" looked in the movie, his radar sense is actually more interesting than that. _________________ Andrew |

This forum debate could play out in continuity in an interesting way. Villains are more and more often referring to Matt's senses, as it is apparently public knowledge. But what if public knowledge was off-base, and DD was able to slip out of a bad situation because his radar is still his own secret? Something to mull over... |

PPblair,
That's an interesting thing to take into consideration. If you remember, in "Born Again" Karen did tell Kingpin about the secret ID, but not about the extra senses and radar. Kingpin just thought that Murdock was faking his blindness. From the events in "The Devil in Cell Block D" I think that this is the idea that most people have ("Murdock just pretends he's blind")
While any villain can go now to stalk the Nelson, Blake & Murdock premises, you know, just in case, not every villain is absolutely sure that Matt=DD (as much as the majority of the public) , and I think that the actual nature of DD's powers is still a knowledge privvy to a very close circle around Matt (or privvy to very intimate enemies, i.e. Elektra knew).
IMHO, and unless a DD writer chooses to write it otherwise, DD's enhanced senses and radar are still his ace in the sleeve. _________________ Gloria
