[Blind Alley]

Warning : this thread is only for DD-holics who are crazy about small details !

You might have noticed that pencilers can add some changes on the costume of old Hornhead.
For instance, in the recent annual, Leandro Fernandez draws the mask covering the nose and billy-club holsters on both legs (much like the DD father costume).

Maleev used to draw only one holster, on the right leg.
Lark put the holster on the left leg (as most pencilers do).

During the Kesel run, Cary Nord was drawing a slightly different mask, too.

So, have you noticed other small details in DD costumes ?
Which of them do you like/dislike ?

I noticed Leandro Fernandez's rendition of the mask: At first I thought it was a goof by the colorist, but then I noticed that it was actually drawn to look that way. It somehow makes Murdock look more Batman-like, though it makes him a bit ugly-looking... Yet one must admit that it is safer secret ID-wise, to hide as much of one's face as possible.

It is true that each artist tends to personalize the uniform. I have to say that I quite liked Cary Nord's version of the mask.

Re the holster: I suppose it is variable depending on the artist's belief as to whether Matt is right-handed, left-handed or ambidextrous. Personally, I think that a holster in each leg is not a bad idea... I'd even sign for a double set of Billy clubs!

I do notice general changes in costume from time to time without really being able to put my finger on it, so this is an interesting thread. Now I feel like I have to go through some old issues and take a second look. In general, it makes sense for him to update his look every now and then, although I'm not sure how good he is at keeping up with fashion trends...

Well, I think I'm way in the minority when I say that I love Lee Bermejo's design of the suit. First off, those long horns are killer. I'm being serious, really. Maybe its because I like what Sale and Kelly Jones do with Batman's ears. I just find it more striking. It makes him look more scary. Of course, there is the question of "realistically," but I can buy it. No one has grabbed Batman by those long ears yet. The same can apply to DD. Has another artist ever done longer ears on Daredevil? Scott McDaniel maybe?

Also, I love how the suit is inspired by boxing. The laces and the boxer shorts. The attention to the seams appears natural. Very Paul Pope-like in design. Now there is an artist I'd love to see on Daredevil. I think Marko Djurdjevic also puts an emphasis on seams too. I really like this approach to the suit.

I like the Bermejo's design, too!
For the same reason than Clayton : the "boxing" inspiration.
It's a very distinctive style with a nod to DD's origins.

The covers to daredevil: father, had the nose covered like the batman styled mask aswell, can't remember if the costume within the comic had the nose piece...

And lately the costume on the covers seemed to be more detailed and realistic... but I doudt an artist would have the patience to draw panel by panel.
