I was thinking of picking up the first trade for it because it's done by Brubaker (who is great of course) and I really liked Iron Fist as DD in the recent Daredevil comics. Anyone know if it's any good and worth picking up? What are the stories about?

Given how much I enjoy Brubaker on DD and Captain America, I decided to give Iron Fist a shot. The only negative I could really give is that there have been moments in the plot that jumped ahead too far and left the reader to fill in some holes on their own. I don't mind this to a small degree, but felt a little put off by it on a couple of occasions in this book.

Now with that being the only negative I really have, let me give a few positives about the series.

I had NO background knowledge about Iron Fist when I picked up issue one. The character's history plays a big part in the series, but not in a way that's detrimental to a new reader. I have been able to get up to speed fairly well. I also get the impression that Iron Fist's backstory is thin enough that this series is introducing new elements which fit well into the more vague spots in the characters history. I don't want to get too spoiler-ish, but will say that these new elements are one of the big plots of the story so far. Danny Rand is discovering that the history of the Iron Fist is much more broad than he ever imagined.

The supporting cast is excellent and in one particular case, leave us wanting more plotlines involving them. (And when the annual came out and filled this wish, I missed out. -go figure!)

-Unfortunately, I have a very limited monthly comic budget and prefer crime and espionage books first and foremost. As such, I gaveup following Iron Fist just last month. It was a cut that had to be made, but that didn't make it any easier. (Especially after the stand-alone story in issue seven. -I thoroughly enjoyed the story.) So despite my no longer following the book, I wholeheartedly recommend the book.

In my opinion, Immortal Iron fist is one of the best (if not THE best) superhero comic that Marvel is putting out now. The rapport between Fraction and Brubaker is great, the stories are imaginative and exciting, modern and retro at the same time, and the reinvention of the Iron Fist mythos is inspired. I'd really recommend it.

Great series. Very much in the same style as DC's Starman series in that there is a legacy and history that goes with being the hero. It doesn't hurt that David Aja is doing some incredible work here. I would love to see this in an omnibus.

I enjoyed the trade a lot. I like the fact that there is a tradition with the Iron Fist's over the years. It kind of has a Highlander type of feel to it I guess. I think what I enjoyed the most about the comic wasn't the story though, it was the character of Danny Rand. He is funny and just so likeable, I think that is what will keep reading it from now on. He just cracks me up so much. The scenes with him and Luke Cage we're priceless.

Yeah, the first TPB is great. The second arc hasn't been quite as good, but I'm still enjoying it.
