This is the cover of DD(I)#18:

Okay. Apart from the escher-esque mutual position of the two characters, why does Daredevil look so troubled?
Why doesn't he just knee the Gladiator in the nuts?
Also, does the Gladiator realize that DD is in a perfect position to knee him in the nuts? |

You are right... How unpractical of both!
Curious as the cover might look to you, the interior is even weirder for, under the mask of the crimson Swashbuckler there is none other than...Foggy Nelson?!?! _________________ Gloria

No, the Fogster isn't the DD in the cover (that's Matt), he's only DD in the interior... (It would take him ages to get such a six-pack, not that he would try to, either).
I'm wondering... Maybe Stick didn't teach the 010 kick to Matt _________________ Gloria

Really? Crap. "Foggy's formidable six-pack" would've been good material for his thread... |

Actually, a little known fact is that in Ancient Rome "kneeing of the nuts" hadn't been invented yet. In fact, nut kneeing wasn't invented until the mid-1930s (during an unfortunate swing dance accident). Therefore, insofar as Gladiator actually thinks he is a gladiator living in Ancient Rome, he wouldn't be aware of the painful (yet hilarious) practice of nut kneeing and therefore wouldn't be aware that DD is in the perfect position to knee his nuts. _________________ JC

Yeah! And also, Foggy probably knew this bit of information from an untold passion for the study of ancient Roman customs, and simply thought that it woud have been not fair.
(next: DD russian dance!) |

I think I found a recording of this pivotal event.
