Ok, I voted "Guts" again.
"Devils" is one hell of an issue, and very much the quintessential Miller DD story... As I stated in another thread, "Devils" is the comic which got me into Daredevil (and pretty much into Marvel), still...
...C'mon, don't expect a practising Nelsonian like me to leave the Fogster alone! ... and anyway, most of you are surely going to vote "Devils" _________________ Gloria

I also voted for Guts.
I love Devils, but I think Miller was still finding his feet as a writer at the time - witness the third-person narration during the battle in the subway tunnel. Miller wouldn't do much third-person narration much longer. But it's one of the best Bullseye-DD battles. It hurts to vote against it.
Guts was very experimental, and I have to love that. From the first page with Daredevil directly addressing the reader, to Foggy's constant narration, Miller really took some chances here, and it turns out wonderfully. By this time, Miller and Janson had really come together and found their style on the book. Everyone in Daredevil's supporting cast gets to shine, and not at Daredevil's expense. So Guts has my vote. |

That's true for his main DD run but in MWF, Miller used third-person narration.
However, I agree with you, one of FM's trademark is the inner monologue that puts you in someone's head.
BUT... "Devils" functions quite well with the third-person narration and it still has its great scenes I mentioned in previous round. Gloria also described "Devils" as "quintessential" : it has (nearly) everything you'd want from a Daredevil comics. _________________ Visit the Red Shaker |
