FYI, apparently DD #223 will be one of the stories incuded in the SWII omnibus.

You know what I want? I want an Uncanny X-Men Omnibus Vol. 2. I don't care that it'll start with the Dark Phoenix Saga (which I already have). I think Claremont's run on X-Men was legendary and, unfortunately, something I missed out on. I love the first Omnibus and think it would be cool if they did a follow up.

What's that? Secret Wars Omnibus? That sounds....wait....did you say Secret Wars II? What is going on? Marvel seems to be putting out virtually random omnibus' at this point. Surely more people want Vol. 2's (for X-Men or Spider-Man or Fantastic Four) than want Secret Wars II. It's all very puzzling.

i really felt the same way when i read rgj's post. there are so many other omnibus worthy runs in the marvel universe. i wonder what the criteria has to be met to justify publishing one?

Some of the criteria, I'm sure, is linked to marketing. Spidey, the Hulk, Iron Man, FF and Silver Surfer all had omni's during the release of the films. Isn't Bendis doing something SW related now? Maybe that's why these omnis are coming out. I'm sure the Captain America, Avengers and Thor omnis will come out when the films come out.

But, really, Marvel should just go to town with these things. I've bought most of these collections. I've even bought the Stan Lee stuff because 1) I want to have at least read it once and 2) I have a two year old who I will eventually, in a couple of years, read these tales as bed time stories---which is why I wish that they'd even have a DD omni starting from the beginning, as they will be doing with X-Men early next year.

And, like jc said where is the next volume of Claremont's X-Men?? C'mon, Marvel, go to town and reprint everything. It will sell.

I wonder what keeps them from doing a Daredevil by Ann Nocenti Omnibus. I think it would sell a lot, especially considered that it would follow the trail of the Miller and Bendis ones.

I think there's already a Fantastic Four v.2 Omnibus. But yeah, this seems like an odd choice. I'd much rather see a second Spidey volume (or even the next Omnibuses of Bendis' Daredevil or Brubaker's Captain America run) before a Secret Wars II omnibus. Surprised

I see I'm a month late at chiming in here, but we've now had another month's solicitations listed http://www.newsarama.com/comics/081216-marvel-march-2009-solicitations.html with more Omnibus'.
Let me interject that it will be one expensive month (30% discount from Amazon or no) as I'll have to pick up the Brubaker/Lark DD, Fraction/Brubaker Iron Fist and maybe even the Millar/Hitch Ultimates (excellent run, just not sure if I HAVE to have it).

It seems that when Marvel solicits these bad boys they are pretty consistent in showing their intentions for future releases. What I mean is that when an Omnibus is tagged as 'Vol. 1' it appears as though it is just the beginning (i.e. Fantastic Four, X-Men, Brubaker's Cap, Bendis' DD) rather than something that's a stand alone (i.e. Miller's Elektra, Morrison's New X-Men).

It kind of sucks having to wait for a 2nd Brubaker Cap Omnibus because they've got to wait for enough new issues to be released to make it worth such a large collection. But Bendis' run is over so why hold off on something like that?

I do have to agree on the older stuff that has been out of print. Who knows how they decide what is Omnibus worthy? I've never read Secret Wars (I or II) myself, but I'm assuming they're releasing the Secret Wars II collection for completists sake.

I do like how they are mixing in collections of some of the newer high quality runs with the classic stuff - even if the classic stuff isn't released as quickly as we would like.
