Nice scenography and art, but the script of these first pages is below Brubaker's average, IMO, especially Iron Fist's caption boxes. |

I think that those captions are more reminiscent of the kind of stuff that Brubaker was doing with Fraction in Iron Fist. Maybe that's why it seems like it's a bit of an odd fit for Daredevil.
I won't spoil anything here, but I should have an advance review of this issue up on Tuesday - look for it at CB then! |

I know this sounds really silly, but I sorta liked Danny apologizing for the broken window. I'm not a big fan of the crack jokes while you fight routine, but that was subtle enough and made me smile, just a little.
Looking forward to the review, Dave! _________________ The Other Murdock Papers |

Here's my review of the issue:

It's quite difficult to discuss this issue without spoilers but I've done my best. Still, the review might make a little more sense after you've read the issue. |

You've done a fine job not spoiling the issue, Dave so don't worry about that. One thing though (and since I haven't read the issue yet, I might have misunderstood what you were trying to say) is that it seemed to me that Matt was never sure that Milla's lawyer actually was Lady B. We found out that she was, but there was never a moment in #114 where this was more than a suspicion on his part. If what you're talking about is some later (or earlier?) instance of her being able to successfully disguise herself it doesn't necessarily run counter to what happened around the table in the conference room.
Generally, I don't like it when writers goof up on the senses, in either direction, but with Lady B being described as someone very much in control of her own biology, it doesn't irk me the way it did when Matt didn't recognize Danny Rand in the Daredevil costume. But, I have no choice but to reserve judgement until I've read the issue. I'm looking of forward to it. Reading your review left me wary, but still very much intrigued, which is what I guess you were going for. _________________ The Other Murdock Papers |

Actually, my comment is related to something that happens this issue. As I say, it's hard to talk about it without spoiling it!

Yeah, pretty much. It's still a good issue, and I'm maybe being a little harsh on it, but I just wasn't sure that the revelation towards the end of the issue fit smoothly with what has come before in the arc.
You'll have to let me know what you think. |

Thanks for clearing that up. Hmmm... Even more intrigued now.

Well, I've never been one for biting my tongue, to put it mildly, so I'll be sure to let you know what I think. _________________ The Other Murdock Papers |

Let's see if I can guess it again: it's not that Lady Bullseye is against DD and the dang oldie is on his side, it's actually the other way around. |

*sighs* Well, I have to admit that my expectations have lowered a bit after reading the reviews for it, but I do hope that it isn't so bad. As of yet, I haven't really decided what to think of the previous issues. |

What other reviews have you read and, more importantly, did they contain spoilers? _________________ The Other Murdock Papers |

Really??? I was completely underwhelmed by the issue. I thought this might have been the worst conclusion I've seen in a while. |

I beg to differ. In any case, I'll wait until others have read it to tell my reasons. |

Meh... I usually tend to worship the ground Bru walks on so this is a bit of a departure for me. It wasn't necessarily a bad issue, but "underwhelming" sums it up pretty well for me too. I think the main problem for me is that I simply can't fathom why the Hand would recruit DD for this kind of assignment or why they would think he'd be up for it (though Lady B seems to enjoy the fact that he isn't). Another thing... that was supposed to be one of the hardest decisions of his life? Any hesitation at all on Matt's part would have been completely out of character so it wasn't that big a decision, I guess. I just find the basic premise to be a bit strange.
Nice art though. And interesting twist with him deciding to fight Milla's parents on the custody thing. Also, nice to see Master Izo sticking around. Too bad we probably won't see the main character around next ish, but I'm sure the Kingpin in Spain could turn out to be interesting. It might also shed some light on this arc. I'm still a little puzzled... _________________ The Other Murdock Papers |
