Which villains and supporting characters should appear in the Daredevil title?
I would like to see Purple Man face off against Daredevil again. DD hasn't faced Purple Man since he got his terrifying revamp and Purple Man really hasn't done anything of note in the last couple years. I also think DD should pay back Mr. Fear for the terrible things he did to Matt. Also they should do something with Gladiator, the last time we saw him he was in a mental hospital. |

I'd be down with any supervillain we could think of..
Purple Man would be awesome, but Gladiator, Eel, Bushwacker.. would be pretty cool aswell. Oh what would I give for a Mephisto/Blackheart arc.
just. please. no. more. ninjas.
at least for a year... I really had enough of that stuff recently. We need a Daredevil punching in ridiculus costumed faces again.
.. leap-frog, anyone? _________________ Deodorant Cant Fix Ugly. |

There is one villain I've wanted to see DD face in an ongoing arc and that is Scarecrow. He's one scary dude in the Ghost Rider comics, especially in the 90's when he went around murdering babies.
Matt really needs to tangle with some of Marvel's horror villains.
Madcap should return too.
Other villains I would like to see in DD are Mr. Sinister, Crossbones and Sabertooth |

I'd be all for a Punisher battle, since Matt is responsible for Punisher being out of prison.
I'd like Deathstalker to return. He came back in that Daredevil/Captain America one-shot a couple of years ago, but he was dead again at the end of it. I think he has so much potential, and really plays games with Matt's senses.
From the 90s, Sir and Insomnia are villains I thought had a lot of potential. I also think it would be fun if Daredevil went up against one of the Goblins. From Brubaker's run, I wouldn't mind seeing Lilly Lucca again either.
I also would appreciate a long break being given to Kingpin and the Hand. I probably don't need to see Lady Bulllseye any time soon either. |

It doesn't have to be villains. He's had run-ins with heroes, too. |

A showdown with Mr Fear, in which DD gets his all payback on the dude, and then some, is almost mandatory.
Supporting characters are okay, as long as they don't become the writer's pet and end up stealing the spotlight from the main character.
As for other villains, besides purple man, there are quite a few that could be an interesting match for DD, like the new Hobgoblin. |

Purple man would be good but what about Sabertooth, any Goblin, Venom, Carnage, Electro, Mr. Sinister, Memphisto, Blackheart or Typhoid?
If it were to be a hero maybe Wolverine or Hulk. |

it occurs to me that we haven't seen Mr. Fear in 3-4 years, yeah agreed with Francesco this is mandatory and it's someone like Larry that can shake Matt's cocky persona to the core ever since Milla. Part of the magic of Waid is that you almost completely forget the past 10 years, whether it's the art or the tone of the writing you forget the villains he's fought and the wife. I'd like Fear back at some point to warp the tone if only briefly.
There was a fan letter a few issues back that had one of the best ideas i've heard in awhile concerning villains: use retro characters like Electro for rematches. With the changes over the years i think it would be a great moment of nostalgia and something worthwhile since he's back to being swashbuckling and Max Dillon has had redesigns.
As much as i love gladiator i want him left alone unless there's a good worthwhile reason to bring him back. They still can't make him into a strong supporting character and he's distracting at best so it's best if he's benched for alittle longer.
I've never been a Purple man fan or an Owl fan so it would take serious innovation to make them cool.
It's hard as we all know Daredevil has a hit and miss rogues gallery
If Waid or Wacker read these comments the best piece of advice for villains i can give them is use people who reflect a negative quality within Matt Murdock or Daredevil. This is why Spider man and Batman have the best villains in the industry because the threat is personal on some level in which the villains reflects the hero and the heroes potential for evil within (batman= madness and insanity and spider-man= the abuse of irresponsibly using power). If Matt Murdock really should have become a "villain" (Miller) then show me How and WHY in his villains.
idk but villains definitely need to be reworked in DD because there's so much potential |

I think they need a story where Mr. Fear tries to pull a cruel Born Again style event on DD and fails completely, showing the cycle has been broken and DD will not allow psychopaths to destroy his life anymore. That would be a triumphant moment for DD.

Have read any recent stories with Purple man in them? Since appearing in Alias he has been revamped into an extremely depraved and cruel villain. He also a bigger player in the Marvel Universe, having control over his own band of super villain mercenary in the Villains for Hire title. I think he would be a pretty dangerous and vile villain for DD to face.
Owl is harder to work with, because he hasn't gotten a revamp in the last decade. I always thought he would have worked best a rival for Kingpin, while Kingpin is often cool and in control Owl is often prone to violent rage, more willing to spill blood and doesn't care about resenting a good image of himself. However the comics hardly, if ever, use him in this way.

Well to be fair the argument that Matt Murdock had a hard life, growing up in poverty, his mother abandoning him, his father dying, being blinded. Many villains have similar back stories, being bitter about growing up in poverty or having their parents die or being disfigured. I mean this isn't really new territory for comics.
I think you do things with the fact that Matt is a lawyer and have villains who play off that. Introduce a new version of the Organizer or Masked Marauder, who has a connection with a new District Attorney. Having Matt deal with a corrupt District Attorney seems like a good foe for him, something that would really test his faith in the legal system. Plus I think DD needs a new mysterious foe, Organizer and Masked Marauder were interesting concepts that were poorly executed, having new versions of these characters, perhaps with an identity that strikes closer to home for Matt, could be a great story.
Also they could create a version of the Tribune, a obscure villain who died in the 70s. There is a concept that could use a return. Since the original Tribune died, it might be fun to introduce a new version of the character. Perhaps as a family member of someone Bullseye killed after DD saved his life, thus having bitter feelings towards criminals in general and DD in particular.
I think there are many villains from the Silver Age and the 80s in particular who were interesting concepts that did not have good executions.
I think the Wildboys would work better as a street gang rather then just two punks trying to kill DD.
Someone like Jester who in the comics is just a one dimensional Joker knock off who really needs a retcon to make his back story more compelling. Instead of just being an idiot who got laughed at because he didn't take acting lessons, how about having some other actor or a director or someone else ruined his chance to make it big as an actor and now he wants revenge on that person. Its not DD's life who is at risk, but a stranger and not very likable stranger either.
I wouldn't mind Man-Bull appearing again, if the focus of the character was changed for just another petty thug, to someone who wants to be normal, who wants to change for the better, but can't do it in his current state.
Any rogues gallery can be revamped in the hands on the right writer. Flash's rogues gallery was pretty lame before Geoff Johns revamped it. |

Anyone remember the DC character Vigilante? He was Adrian Chase, a judge if memory serves.
I think that would be a good idea to follow up on, a new hero or villain, who also works for the NYC judicial system, who takes up being a vigilante after being inspired by all the ongoing rumors and trial that Matt is DD. How would Matt react to this especially if this person turned bad down the road? |

I don't particularly like Lady Bullseye (or Izo the other second rate knockoff), but with regular Bullseye dead now would be the perfect time to use her. This is the time to get some use out of the character and then as soon as Bullseye is inevitably resurrected he can make his first order of business to kill the pretender (well maybe second order of business, his first order will probably to be to kill whomever Daredevil is sleeping with at the time). |
