I've been loving Mark Waid's run on the title and this one hit so many good notes with me. Matt's generally had a tendency to underestimate his foes and I like how Waid works that in here. I had a couple of laughs, a great sense of relief (I've been missing Foggy...) and then the final twist. Can't wait for next issue! |

Good issue overall. I've enjoyed volume 4 to this point. |

I feel that Daredevil has only been guilty of underestimating his foes from Bendis and onward. I am also starting to really dislike Kirsten. Her treatment of Foggy in this issue made me very uncomfortable.
I know Waid and Samnee can do better than this. |

I gave this issue a four. I thought it was pretty solid, and found it to be an improvement over the last few. Definitely the best one I've read in a while. |

4/5
Best issue of this relaunch. Samnee continues to impress and I quite enjoyed his classic approach to the Owl even though I'm not a big fan of this villain.
Waid has sort of lost me once the Bullseye storyline concluded (vol.3 27). There is about 8-9 issues to the end of vol.3 that I'll have a hard time reading again (except for the art). But this was a very promising issue. Hopefully it is a sign of things to come.

A couple of little things I picked up on after 1) Googling "Daredevil 3 review" and 2) rereading, that made me smile.
1) Interesting that Owl is appearing in #3 of Volume 4. His original appearance was in #3 of Volume 1.
2) I know it doesn't happen THAT often, but let's blame this on me reading a lot of back issues on Marvel Unlimited over a shorter span of time, so it stands out for me more. Marvel doesn't seem to have any problem with putting DC references into their mags. Spidey used to internally monologue about Superman not having to deal with the problems he (Parker) had. Waid did have that panel in Volume 3 where someone mistakes Matt for "Red Batman". And in this volume, Kirsten asks her unexpected client whether he's sure he didn't have an appointment with "Loring and Shaw, down the hall"!
(I mentioned the reference to a friend of mine, who said she didn't blame Jean for universe-hopping after the way she was treated...) |

It probably should be mentioned here as well that the issue has a reference to BKV's Saga from Image. I really should get on with it and start reading it.
Lying Cat? What the hell are you all about.

I noticed that as well. Saga is a great series. If anyone isn't reading it, they should start. |

Saga is great (and Lying Cat in particular is awesome). Still, I hated the end of Y the Last Man and Ex Machina SO MUCH that I worry that Saga will end the same way (i.e. crappy). _________________ JC

Am I the only one who misses when Bendis' DD would've just gone inside the Owl's place and kicked his butt? |

I'll give this issue a 4.
The new revamped Owl is creepy, the opening scene showed that very well. Matt's interaction with the Shroud was interesting too. Matt's plan to invade the Owl's stronghold was rather bold and fun.
The only weak part was Foggy's scenes, felt slightly forced. Hm, didn't know he was such a master of disguise either. |
