Even if that is some sort of dream or stunt I think Mr Waid has… well…

I was wondering if there was some Silver Age call-out and Googled to find out when Mike Murdock and his (cough!) fashion sense first appeared, having a hunch it was in Vol1 #14. Sadly, Mike wasn't until #16. I got nuthin'.
On the plus side, Matt can't actually see what he looks like... |

I like it. It's ridiculous, sure, but it's pretty....daring! Get it? Daring! Also, it's probably a dream sequence. But it's a cool image nonetheless.
Obviously the Marvel U (or at least DD) will reboot soon so Waid is just swinging for the stars. _________________ JC

My first ever post will be to say this: RIDICULOUS. Since the last part of volume III (#28 - ) Waid's been doing (almost?) every kind of crap possible with this great character... |

It is definitely a cool image. It's Matt Murdock in a ridiculous red suit with a DD belt buckle! In Court! As a lawyer! He has a DD belt buckle! In some ways it's the logical extension of Waid's (admittedly flawed) plot with Matt completely out. It's also sort of cool insofar as it's finally Matt being both a lawyer and a vigilante. At once. His tagline is always "he's a lawyer AND a superhero". Well, there you go. Both at once.
It's cool.
It's dumb. It doesn't really fit with the character and I hope it goes very far away soon. But it's cool. _________________ JC

Well, I was really worried going in, and did not expect to like this issue. What I didn't expect was to feel genuinely sad at the end of it.
At first, my reaction wasn't emotional at all, I just simply noted that I don't agree with the creative decisions at the bottom of the "Matt Murdevil" overhaul on a purely intellectual level. This change will probably not last long, but I found it to be a rather unsightly distraction for the duration of the issue.
Now, the more I think about it, I'm just kind of sad, like something interesting about this character was lost. Not that it won't be restored (hopefully as early as next month), but I can't wrap my head around this development and it's jarring to the point of being painful to read.
Will post my review tonight though, and will hopefully make more sense then! _________________ The Other Murdock Papers |

Just read the issue.
I stand by my earlier post.
Please get Mark Waid away from Daredevil as soon as possible. |

I like it. I mean, I don't like the new look, at all. But we're not supposed to like it. Characters at every turn talk about how tacky the new look is. For me, all this is a sign of Matt's hubris stretching to breaking point, and he likely has a major fall lined up ahead when he'll learn the cost of being so laissez-faire with the dividing line between his double-life. |

I trade wait so I won't actually read the issue for ages. So, spoilers, obviously but is the red suit not part of a dream? Is it real? _________________ JC

I agree with Wilsonfisk. I feel like I'm back in the early 90s looking at the AzBats Batman suit. Or Kitty Pryde's first attempt at costume design... was that in Uncanny X-Men #150?
Yeah. Matt's suit is hideous. That's the point. (Really, really hideous. Like I'd rather cosplay as Mike Murdock than wear that thing kind of hideous. Well... maybe.)
I did like the rest of what's going on. Jubala's introduction. The baseball. The final curve ball. The new look is an obvious downer, but I'll wait to see where this goes. |

Yes JC, it's not a dream.
Now would be a great time for a Moon Knight/Daredevil crossover, wouldn't it?

Anyone have any idea when the Mark Waid version of DD is ending, because seriously I think I've had enough...
I think I've been very patient with the book since it's gone downhill since vol. 3's "Monster Mash" issues but enough is enough, the book has officially become campy with him in that costume. It's time for a new writer and a darker direction again. I hope that #16 will be the end of this cause I don't think I can take it anymore. I don't want this to turn into another experience where I'm only buying the book out of loyalty for the character even though it is so painfully bad. (Like how I felt during a lot of Chistester and Kesel's time on the book)
I hate to say it but Waid has overstayed his welcome and he needs to go. |
