Has anybody seen this movie? I want to talk about it and see if anybody got the same interpretations as I did. People reviewing the movie say they had to watch it again, but I feel I understood it the first viewing. I'm going to briefly fill in what I thought of the movie so if you haven't seen it, don't read.

OK, Borden (Bale) and Angier (Jackman) are aspiring magicians. Borden ties the wrong knot against Jackman's wife in the water tank escape scene where she drowns because she can't slip it. Borden goes away for awhile. This is what I think some people may confuse about. I think Borden finds out about Tesla at this leave of absence and creates his double. I don't think he ever had a twin. The difference was that Borden only used the machine once and was able to live in peace with his doppleganger unlike Angier who killed himself 100 times. Well...I guess that's my only take on it.

Cutter (Caine) knew nothing of this until the end. Some say he knew about Borden a significant amount of the time. Angier did reveal that Cutter had suspected it but it was too easy of an explanation for Angier to accept.

What I liked about the movie is that Angier was the good person at the beginning and Borden was the "hands dirty" character. But throughout the movie, Angier's obsession with being the best magician and revenge on Borden changed him in the end to becoming the more evil of the two and Borden became more of the loving character (loved Sarah and Johansen's character and daughter). He became the family man torn between his family and his work.

Very good movie. I have loved Nolan's work since Memento. He really knows how to write a good script and direct.
