The Message Board is currently in read-only mode, as the software is now out of date. Several features and pages have been removed. If/When I get time I intend to re-launch the board with updated software.

I haven't read most but I have thoughts on a couple:
52 #45 - GEEZ!!!
Captain America: Secret Empire TPB (Cap vol. 1 #169-176): Some older (~74) Cap by Englehart. This is the first non-Brubaker Cap I have ever read and it is FANTASTIC! Just an outstanding story and a very interesting one considering the end of Civil War. (It actually makes the end of CW #7 feel like another rip-off of an older Marvel storyline. What else is new, eh?)
Read someone else's copy:
Civil War: The Confession: This is the first Bendis issue I have read since some New Avengers stuff, last summer. Sure enough, this issue made me realize why I stopped reading Bendis's current work. Essentially, it was just fluff. Nothing happens. This was hyped to be a big deal epilogue. However, you could never read this issue and it would never effect your understanding of the post-Civil-War Marvel universe. Seriously, I could give you a 100% comprehensive spoiler in about a dozen words. --> I am very glad I didn't purchase this.
Punisher War Journal #5 - Fun stuff! I didn't know how I'd feel about a Punisher that is both not written by Ennis and not a MAX title. Based on this, I'd say Fraction is doing a fine job! _________________ "Flash is back. Worlds will die again!" |

I picked up my comics yesterday and I've not read yet, but this is what I picked up:
52 WEEK #45 - Last week was amazing, looking forward to this one!
GRIFTER MIDNIGHTER #1 (OF 6) - Like both characters, I've not read any Authority, so my introductions to these characters were via Sleeper (Grifter) and then Midnighter's own ongoing. Will give this ago, seems right down my street though!
STORMWATCH PHD #5 - Weren't sure about this, but last issue was great, hoping for more and better!
SAM NOIR RONIN HOLIDAY #2 (OF 3) - Enjoyed #1, will complete the mini series.
CIVIL WAR THE CONFESSION (PP #749) - I got 1 of 5 in the shop, feel honoured, looks good, but Forrest's review has just pee'd on my excitement alittle!
MOON KNIGHT #8 CW - Thought I'd never say it, #7 was poor, #1 - #6 were amazing, I hope that this is better, otherwise this could be the beginning of the end of the Moon knight relaunch.
NEW AVENGERS #28 - Bendis!'s Civil War NA has been immense, I hope that he can continue post Civil War, though the Ronin thing is alittle boring again, I feel that he had a huge plan, but the big summer events keep on coming in and mucking him up.
PUNISHER WAR JOURNAL #5 - Not read #4 yet, but love the Pun, this title has improved since a ropey first issue for me.
THUNDERBOLTS #112 - Still not sure on this one, this will be my third issue of TBolts, jury is still out.
GARTH ENNIS CHRONICLES OF WORMWOOD #2 (OF 6) (MR) - Enjoyed the first, unsure what to expect.
As a total aside, England's largest radio station BBC Radio 1 (available on Siris (dunno spelling) network in the states), was running a event for the large charity event called Comic Relief, Radio 1 and their most popular breakfast DJ were doing a tour of the country (about 7 locations) doing something called Rallyoke (a kareoke tour). I was lucky enough to be drawn at random and get 4 tickets, took my wife, sister and her husband. There was a crowd of about 1500, the DJ's came on and did some kareoke etc and the crowd could fill in requests to come and sing. Lucky enough my sister and I were one of about 5 to get picked out to sing. They had a gong on stage, so if you were crap you got gonged off, the other three before had all got gonged off. Was totally shocked when our names were read out to go back stage. Met all the "minor celebs" and Chris Moyles the main DJ. After about 10mins, we got called to go on stage and sing. So infront of 1500 people, my sister and I sung Elton John & Kiki Dee's "Don't go Breakin' my heart", it was totally amazing and what a great night. DJ Jo Whiley is totally a Milf! So thus I was still knackered for that so too tired to read comics! _________________ Always Out-Manned, Never Out-Gunned |
