|
|
Checking comics news websites, I got a hunch when I saw that DD #100 wasn't listed in all places as being released on September 6th.
So I went to Marvel's place.
It comes out on September 12th, they say.
Ouch, ouch, ouch.
I had dreamed that I could read in august the delayed #99 and then #100 right on schedule.
Then the release of #100 was moved forward to September 6th, which seemed adequate as it maintained the distance between issues. But now it's September 12th
Oh, right. It's just one more week. I suppose that as soon as I see Jazzy Romita Sr.'s pages, the tough wait will be a thing of the past.
I take consolation in thinking that the delays will allow Michael Lark some extra time to keep delivering the goods on the Art side.
Still... Ouch, ouch, ouch: It's a hard world for little fanpeople _________________ Gloria

While it IS a bummer that issue #100 has apparently been pushed back again, it will be 3x the size of a regular issue which will be nice! _________________ https://twitter.com/tburnham7

I guess I'm sounding like Teddy Teague (who couldn't wait for his issue of the League), but yes, I try to gather fortitude from the fact that it will be a king-size dose of DD, and that the previews strongly suggest that these extra pages will be filled with goodness.
(But then the "without Fear" story will be interrupted -I imagine- by the October -November?- Annual, like World War I, this arch won't be "over by Christmas") _________________ Gloria

I'm always a little dissapointed when a book I'm looking forward to is delayed, but I'm actually not this time (well, not much anyway lol). In part because it's just a week, but also because this issue should be worth the wait for the fact that it's filled with so many extras alone, but also for the artwork. I hope it sells real well too. _________________ Andrew |

I'm very hopeful that #100 will be a great issue that's well worth waiting for.
With the extra helpings of some classic artists in the upcoming issue, enough miniseries to keep things interesting without overexposing our hero, consistently fine writing by Brubaker (heck, he's even kept Matt alive) this is a great time to be a DD fan. _________________ It's never too late to have a happy childhood! |

Oh, Indeed... I sort of think this the princely reward for having followed the series even during the armoured costume period _________________ Gloria

So, I just read this issue for an advance review at SBC. I don't want to go into specifics and spoil it, but it's a solid anniversary issue. It's great to see so many great Daredevil artists unite on this project, and their contributions feel very organic in terms of the way they fit into the story (and not as jarring as the different artists' panels in DD #50).
Also, the reprints of DD #90 and 91 give some background on Mr. Fear (and provide a nice Black Widow-centric story that I hadn't read before), and we get a few other nice extras too. |

I'm green with envy (ten days to go! at least)

reprints? Do you mean that the reprint of these old San Fran adventures are part of the extra-sized issue? If so, darn it! I was expecting a triple dose of Lark goodness _________________ Gloria

I hate spending extra for reprints of issues I already have. Hopefully, the extras you alluded to, Dave, will make up for it. It's great to hear that the guest masters' art fits so well, this time. _________________ It's never too late to have a happy childhood! |

I hadn't read these reprinted issues before, so I enjoyed their inclusion here. Colan was great, wasn't he?
And yes, the guest artist segments are better integrated into the book (as you'll have seen in the previews, they get more than just one panel each, for a start!).
I'll let you know when the review is up, so that I can go into more detail about the issue. |

Wait, so it the "triple sized" issue just a normal issue along with 2 reprinted issues? That's a little lame. _________________ JC

There have been quite a few excellent DD artists, but for me, Colan will always be #1. _________________ It's never too late to have a happy childhood! |

Of course Colan was great and here was at the peak of his art.
I admit I have a Black & White collection of Volume 1, so my comment was due to the fact that I already had these issues. But you're right, most people surely don't have them, so what a better way to recap about the villain than bring back the issues where he appeared?
And the new stuff looks indeed gorgeous in the previews, so I'm really looking forward for it _________________ Gloria

I'm not sure if Colan is my favorite artist on DD, he's up there though.
However, nobody ever drew the Black Widow as well as Gene Colan. These reprints will be a real treat. |
