Believe it or not but Superman is depicted as a vegetarian in Birthright, the modern updating of his origin story. So is Greg Rucka's Wonder Woman, and Beast Boy from the Teen Titans.
I'm like a pseudo-vegetarian. I do eat meat on occasion but meat is a small part of my diet. It's not for ethical reasons though, just personal taste and preference. _________________ Andrew

Nope, I like a good slab of medium rare beef, thank you!
Interesting question, though, even if I never had pondered it myself. We so seldom even see anyone (other than Foggy) chowing down in the DD comics. _________________ Alice

My father was a vegetarian (not vegan) though he never imposed his own choice to the rest of the family. I'm not a vegetarian, though as a result my bringing up I'm used to do with very little meat or fish.
As for Comic characters, I recall Animal Man and his daughter being vegetarians. _________________ Gloria

I have an aunt and 3 cousons who are vegetarian. But they are not true vegetarians cause they eat fish.
I am not a vegetarian. I can't go through one day without eating meat. I'm addicted to it. _________________ "Helpful. Cooperative. Stupid. That's my boys." Frank Castle (a.k.a. The Punisher) Welcome Back Frank Series. |

Re characters, I don't have evidence, but I suspect Doctor Strange might be vegetarian... if not him, I'd certainly bet something that Wong is so

I have come across people who declare themselves vegetarians but then eat fish... i wonder if the deal for them is "a vegetarian is someone who doesn't eat meat", but, as far as I recall, this wasn't certainly the motto of my father and his veggie acquaintances.
Though probably the most odd self-description of vegetarianism I heard was from people who ate fish, ate meat, but considered themselves vegetarians because "they ate a lot of greens" _________________ Gloria

Yeah, I haven't read tons of Dr. Strange's (scattered) appearances, but I was checking them because he was on my list of 'probable vegetarians'. Also on the list were Iron Fist and T'Challa. You can see that I'm linking it with mystical, quasi-Eastern tendencies . . .
No confirmation on those two, either.
I'm surprised that we don't get more superhero meal scenes, in general. Why couldn't some hero offer really didactic, fourth-wall-breaking commentaries on nutrition, like a Saturday morning commercial? My nominee would have been Captain America. [Eggs, meat, milk, white bread, meat, green beans, milk - no "pinko" stuff like berries or 'ancient grains'. At 7am, noon, an apple at 3:30, and American Supper at 6 on the dot, kids!]
Dr. Strange is my new favorite comics character, by the way. Seems like a pretty fly life in the Sanctum Sanctorum, huh? Ringing up the Night Nurse, mixing esoteric teas, wearing luxurious cloaks and whatnot. I guess those are the perks that come with the downsides like, uh, Shuma-Gorath. |

Actually they have admitted that they are not true vegetarians because of eating fish. Although one of my cousons has been a vegetarian (except for he eats fish) since he was little and found out where hamburgers come from. He thinks a cow knows when it is about to be killed for meat. _________________ "Helpful. Cooperative. Stupid. That's my boys." Frank Castle (a.k.a. The Punisher) Welcome Back Frank Series. |
