...and get a computer?

Okay, this is me once again going over some DD detail when I'm supposed to be working. I guess that just tells you how much I don't like my job. Anyway, I was just rereading the last TPB (issues #94-99) a few days ago, and I couldn't help noticing that Matt doesn't seem to have a computer in his office. (Hey, it's the kind of thing you notice when you read the thing for the fourth time...)

While I'm glad that absolutely ludicrous "reading computer screens by touch" thing went away about as quickly as it was introduced fifteen years ago, there's really no reason for him not to have a computer. He seems to dump all the Internet research chores on Dakota, which makes sense, but you'd think he would at least write his own case reports, and would he really want someone else reading his email? Pen and paper is so one hundred years ago...

Well, just a random thought. Now, I'll return to my own computer chores. I totally need a new job...

He's got a sweet crimson laptop that "Reed Richards" built for him using Skrull technology?

Things have been going well enough in the practice for him that he can afford JAWS. And, 9.0 just came out! Laughing

Forget computers...

What he should get is a cell-phone. Otherwise Foggy will die of a heart attack the next time Matt is patrolling and he can't locate him.

I thought he already had a cell phone, but was just really bad about using it/taking it with him. (I'm thinking of Foggy's "Do you not understand the concept of the cell phone" speech when Matt was brought in for questioning during Bendis's run).

Hmm, I'm suddenly picturing him stopping in the middle of a fight to answer an incoming call... For complete kicks he should have a phone with a "talking" interface so that all his enemies know that he's getting a call from his dentist. I'm also seeing how the phrase "I'm a little tied up at the moment" would take on a new and strictly literal meaning. Wink

No pockets in the tights? I'd think he might lose it if it clipped onto his belt. How bad would that be? Bad guy, or even innocent bystander picks up DD's cell phone and hits last number dialed? Or recent incoming calls? Razz

Besides, can you even imagine how much money he'd have to spend on replacements? He may be able to withstand severe beatings, but I'm not sure his cell phone can. And yeah, I don't think it would be good for him to be officially outed again. Having DD's cell phone registered to Matt Murdock is not a great idea. Although, I suppose he has friends who could hook him up with something that's impossible to break into and can't be traced.

While playing around with the idea of cell phones, how's this for a conversation (pretending for a second that Milla is not nuts, and Matt only has minor thugs to beat upp).

- Hello?
- Matt, where are you? We were supposed to have dinner half an hour ago.
- Oh, I'm sorry, Milla. I'm still at the office, I lost track of time.
- Well, when are you coming home?
- I wish I could tell you. You see, I'm kind of at the other office.
- Oh, I get it. *sigh* Well, on your way back, could you at least pick up some milk at the store?
- Honey, I'm in costume.
- So, what? Superheroes aren't expected to buy groceries?
- I don't know, it just seems weird.
- Okay, so no idea when you'll be back then?
- Well... What time is it now?
- You don't have a watch?
- I don't think Daredevil getting caught wearing a braille watch is a very good idea.
- Well, it's eight thirty. I swear to you Matt, I have the strangest life of all my friends.
- Yeah, I'm sorry about that... Wait, there's someone here.
- Matt are you okay? Where the heck are you, anyway?
- Some back alley. It's kind of dark, hard to tell.
- You are such a riot.
- Listen, I've really got to go. But I'll stop by the store though, okay?
- Fine. Just don't die or anything.
- I promise, I'll be home in half an hour...oh I'm really not liking the smell of this guy... *click*
- Matt? Damn it.
