Alan Smithee was a pseudonym used by writer Dan Chichester, in part to protest his firing from the Daredevil comic. He wrote issues #338-342 as Smithee.

I believe Alan Smithee is an entertainment-wide pseudonym used by people who believe their creative control and process was comprimised to the point where they don't want their names attached to the finished product.
