So, I'm resigned to actually buying and reading Shadowland in trade form even though it sounds like it's crap. The funny thing is, however, that instead of collecting the DD issues and the mini together they're going to be two different trades. "Shadowland" and "Daredevil: Shadowland". Does it make any sense to read them separately? Like read "Shadowland" (which is out now) front to back and then read "Daredevil: Shadowland" when it comes out? Or should I try to read issues in either in the order they hit the stands.
I'm also slightly tempted to pick up the trades of the "side stories". "Blood on My Face" or whatever it was called. I'm tempted because, let's face it, this may be the last DD event we see for at least a couple decades. Surely I should just forget it though right? _________________ JC

I think you should read one issue of SHADOWLAND, then read the first issue of the DD TPB, etc. in that order. It would probably make more sense. _________________ Kuljit Mithra

Yeah, the reading order should matter -- for example, Shadowland 5 goes before DD 512 -- but it's possible you might dislike the whole story so much that going out of order wouldn't degrade the experience too much.
It IS sad that this was the first and last DD event for a long time. |

Well I picked up the Shadowland DD trade and thought I could just read it on it's own and follow it well enough, boy was I ever wrong. All of the gaps between the issues we're annoying and made it pretty clear I would have to buy the Shadowland trade (at least) as well. I was going to get it just so I could have a clearer view of what went on but honestly I just don't really care all that much. It's not a good story at all and sure didn't warrant all of the spin offs and mini series it got. I don't feel like wasting all the money it would take to get it all. |

I don't think Shadowland was all that bad. It was a good concept that was misconceived. And sales wise, it was not bad at all. How many friggin' reprints did Marvel got out of the series? So, if they know their toe from their nose, that means that DD fans are more than willing to support an event. I can understand if it will be a couple of years but not never! Well actuatlly, I am thinking that in case the relaunch with Waid turns out great. Marvel might do an event that will be around the time the new movie will be shown. Well, here's hoping. _________________ "I'm only a DEVIL to those who are demonic." |
