Off the top of my head, there was the guy during Miller's run on the title who was on trial and Matt thought he was telling the truth. But he later found out he was lying and it was the guy's pacemaker that tricked Matt. _________________ Kuljit Mithra

Yeah, I do remember reading that now...Thanks.
Can you think of any other method? Is the man just impossible to deceive? |

It all comes down to controlling ones body from heart rate, temp, sweat, saliva, breathing etc so there's no signs for him to spot. There have been cases when there's been an interference that distracts the radar such as when he couldn't get a lock on the sniper Quin in "The Widow" due to a woman with heavy perfume close by. There are very few who can actually train their bodies to be masters of deception but the only ones for sure: Stick, Stone, Shaft, Claw, (Chaste in general) Electra for sure can, Black Widow for sure can, Bullseye can and pretty much anyone who is trained as a ninja (Remember in Vol 3 of Miller the Hand ninjas were able to sneak up on Matts radar as they came down the stairs). With S.H.I.E.L.D they train their members to deal with people like Murdock and they also have suits that disrupt his radar from what Bendis says. |

In Daredevil Volume 2 #2, Macabes tells Matt that the baby in his care is the antichrist, and it must be killed. Matt listens to his heartbeat. It's steady, meaning he's telling the truth.
Of course, later on, by the end of "Guardian Devil," we find out Macabes' true identity and his real -- dishonest to say the least -- intentions.
Honestly, this instance is attributable to sloppiness on the part of Kevin Smith. In the September 2008 issue of Wizard, he says, "I was just making it up as I went. At the point in the story when Matt hears Macabes' heartbeat and believes he's not lying I was like, 'Yeah, all right, maybe the baby is the Anti-Christ. And maybe we're establishing a new Marvel character along the lines of Son of Satan or something like that.' As far as I knew when I was writing the three paragraphas that became the first issue, that old guy was telling the truth."
Yeah. Well done. |

Does the Daredevil Noir count? Cause in that he didn't catch when Eliza lied.
What if you tell the truth but are really stressed, insecure nervous, sweating etc? Wouldn't there be a risk what you said came out as a lie? |
