Just the words "Mark Waid leaves" would be enough to brighten my day. Beyond that, anyone but Andy Diggle.

Thanks, though we seem to be a vocal minority on this board. I find it hard to believe that this is the same writer who did Kingdom Come. It doesn't need to be all gangsters... fantasy is good, as Nocenti and others demonstrated. But as I've said previously, I think his plots are so ridiculous that they remind me of early 60s Superman stories. DD walking around without a head?! Even the current love interest is along the lines of Lois Lane trying to prove Clark Kent is Superman. He seems to have no interest in Matt as a man with adult romantic relationships. Dragging Milla in for that quick insane asylum bit was painfully insensitive, while the DA is a cliche out of cop show who's just there to be a perfunctory love interest. Waid's Matt only seems to care about Foggy. And Waid only seems interested in dreaming up outrageous situations.
End of Days isn't Bendis at his best, but it's at least a break from this. And DD's cameo in Winter Soldier was tolerable. At least he didn't lose, and it was the best art on DD I've seen in quite a while.

I'm enjoying Mark Waid's run, and would like to see it go on for a long while more. Maybe this is the universe paying me back for putting me through the Bendis run, which I couldn't stand but everyone else seemed to love. Confused

David Lapham would be good. His Daredevil vs. Punisher miniseries is always good to go back and read, although I don't think he's as into DD as much as Punisher.

I'd love to see what Jason Aaron would do on the book.

I picked up Remender's first issue of Captain America, and I just couldn't get into it, and that's the only thing I've read by him.

I'm really enjoying what Fraction is doing with Hawkeye right now, but I'm not sure it's the right feel for Daredevil.

If someone could get Scott Snyder away from DC, it may be fun to see what he would do.

Greg Rucka and Judd Winick also come to mind.

The only thing I've read by Winick was Catwoman, and I thought it was awful.

I think the new 52 in general is awful. But you should read his Batman Under The Red Hood,Outsiders, and Green Arrow.I thought they were all good.He can write street level characters pretty well

I am enjoying Waid's run, but I think it helps that there is End of Days to provide a completely different type of environment. It is pretty close to having the best of both worlds for me.

I like Rucka quite a bit. I just finished his second volume of Stumptown (Oni) which was great and I am really looking forward to his (and Lark's!) Lazarus from Image this June or July.

I think Palmiotti/Gray would be a good choice. I'd like to see Palmiotti come back to the book as a writer.

To each their own (I'm enjoying Waid's run) but how is Waid focusing on one of the core relationships of the title a bad thing??

My choice would be Rucka or Kurt Busiek. Rucka handles street-level characters very well and Busiek provides solid superhero stories with terrific characterization and drama.

Brian K. Vaughn

I'm a Bendis fan and I like most of what he does. Brubaker was adequate, but it always felt like DD was second to him after Captain America.

I do like what Waid's doing with Daredevil now. The only problem is that it doesn't seem quite as cohesive. The next few issues look to address the mastermind behind all of Matt's problems, but so far each arc has felt kind of stand alone. Like he's just going from one villain to the next at random.

I want a writer who will really elevate DD. The latest issue of End of Days had that homage page to Amazing Fantasy #15. As much as I like the series, it just reinforces the idea that DD is a B-lister.

The reason for that is simple. Daredevil simply doesn't have Spider-man's or Batman's rogues gallery. Neither does Iron Man really, but a popular movie helped that a lot. Doesn't look like that will happen to DD anytime soon, so I'd rather see new villains. Waid looks to be doing that with Coyote and the most recent arc.

Who's Daredevil's Sinister Six? Bullseye, obviously. Typhoid Mary. Purple Man has great potential (End of Days mentions this). Mister Fear is cool, but he needs a better storyline.

EOD has DD losing an eye to The Hood. The Hood would make a perfect DD villain. So would Mr. Negative from Spider-man. They could have a gang war or something. It would be gritty noir DD, but with a bit of super heroics and not just the Kingpin again.

So I'd like someone who could have a good balance and write DD as a crime noir book, but with super heroics. The Hood is the perfect mix between street criminal and super villain.

Other ideas: DD meets the X-men. He got blinded by radioactive waste which mutated his cells. Makes sense. Daredevil versus The Mandarin from Iron Man.

Daredevil can't practice law now, right? Barring a line-wide relaunch it'd just be too crazy and unbelievable. So have him as James Bond. DD goes to see the opera with Echo in Europe and the Jester attacks. Then they head to Japan and fight Silver Samurai.

DD needs good villains. It's really not that hard. I think Waid sees that somewhat.

Yes...DD needs great supervillains. But let's not look at other heroes closets when choosing.

I want to read sophisticated but crazy DD stories. So my money on Warren Ellis.

As for my thinking there's too much Foggy, I guess I just like romance. Smile A story line that Bendis and Brubaker hinted at but never developed was Foggy's resenting Milla for replacing Karen to the point of being almost cruel to her. That would have shown Foggy in a bad light, but it was dropped with shuttling poor Milla off to the asylum. The Matt/Milla relationship deserves a good writer, and Waid doesn't seem to want to go there. Now I suppose some readers must disagree with my view that the DA is a bore and her relationship with Matt is devoid of real feeling, but I don't think anyone has said so yet.
I never like DD as a jet setter, but I agree about the Hood, and I'm always fine with importing villains. Even the Mandarin could be interesting if anyone can figure out the power disparity since he's used to fighting Iron Man. I'd like DD to take a rest from all things Spider-Man. He sucks up all the oxygen and reinforces DD as a B-lister, which I agree is an eternal problem for the character.
