Matt gets a creepy little tale in the Avengers Halloween Special, where he has an operation to restore his sight, and of course, everything goes horribly wrong. I thought it was a nice Halloween story by Rob Fee and did a pretty decent job of telling a whole tale in a small number of pages. However, I didn’t think the art by Eoin Marron worked so well (the coloring by Mike Spicer was fine, however), which undercut the narrative except for the last panel, which is appropriately haunting.

As for Marvel Zombie, well, honestly, I think the story by W. Maxwell Prince is kind of stupid (I didn’t expect a post-apocalyptic zombie story to have a happy ending but this was somewhat insulting), but the art by Stefano Raffaele was nice, and I liked seeing Matt as the leader of the survivors and how he kept trying even though the world was ruined.
