I said it! This stuff is off the hook! Yep, I'm an old school fan and all (heck, Lee, Chichester and Nocenti are among my favorites), so this isn't just a vol. 2 vs. vol. 1 thing, it's simply a fact.
...Just kidding. To each his own. I made this a poll, so please vote. |

Born Again had a kick ass Kingpin. That alone makes it better. _________________ JC

I can't vote on this. There is no 'Well, it is great reading, but Born Again is better' option. So I'll pass. As for what I think, well, it is great reading, but Born Again is better. |

Jesus, Bendis!'s stuff, while entertaining, isn't even close to the greatness that is Born Again. I bet the ones who voted "yes," are Volume 2 only guys. That can only explain it.

26-50 is good stuff.
Born Again is... shaggadelic. It has so many F##CK YEAH moments (see the definition at http://daveslongbox.blogspot.com/2005/10/new-f-yeah-files.html)
26-50 includes "Lowlife" and "Trial of the century".
No, you can't say this part of Bendis-Maleev can compete with Born Again. Otherwise, you're a communist ! (just kidding) _________________ Visit the Red Shaker |

Yeah...no. In the issues of 227-233 *Born Again*, Miller packed so much that you can't compare to the many issues that Bendis did. Miller f'd up DD's life in just that small amount of issues. I do love Bendis' run, but Frank Miller, at least to me, is the Definitive DD writer. He can jolt and stab you with so little. Bendis has had a many issue for his arc on DD. While Born Again and Bendis' run does affect Matt with so much. Miller was able to do the same amount with fewer issues.
Man, I kinda wish to see Miller at DD again. What would he bring? |

Close, maybe, but no cigar.
Both are great reads, but considering the volume of work, even I will concede that Miller's Born Again is still standing the test of time.

Miller's Born Again is considered a top 20 story in the history of this medium. Some would even argue that it is in the top 10. It would be greatly unfair to Bendis' work to place it next to Born Again at this time. It just doesn't compare and I do like Bendis' run very much. The true test is time. Like a bottle of red wine, this run needs some time to age in order to fully appreciate what it has to offer. It will probably be safe to say that this recent run will be the greatest read since Born Again.

Good points, all. For the time being, I'm still thinking Bendis's #26-50 is better, albeit slightly. He broke down Matt/DD, and the superhero in general, in a much more thorough, interesting, and important manner than Miller did.
As much as I love Born Again (I deinitely think it's in the top 10 greatest stories told in the medium), I always felt like it was two different stories:
1) the breakdown and return of DD/Matt
2) ...that silly Nuke stuff.
To this day, I think that the whole Nuke angle really hurt Born Again. |

Get to go with "Born again", NMiller accomplished for in those 7 issues, then Bendis did in 24 issues. Miller got straight to the point and gave Matt hope and idealism at the end of Born again. Bendis took forever to get to the point and mainly just Matt tragic event, after tragic event. No contenst, Miller takes this one. |

Ok, I will probably re-read Bendis' run more often than Miller's, but Born Again is amazing. Overall I'd take Bendis' Daredevil run, but in putting those two section of work from each writer I had to go with Born Again. _________________ "Why should I be frightened of dying?
