52 - So good!
Astonishing X-Men - Whedon!
Captain America #19 - Brubaker!
Flash #1 - going to check it out
Robin #151 - Loving it! Sure, they %&*@# canceled Batgirl, but at least I still get Batgirl goodness in Robin!
X Isle #1 - I don't know anything about it but the cover art is great and I love island adventures! (Seriously, to this day some of my favorite DD issues are the early Stan Lee issues (12&13) with DD on Ka-Zar's island.) _________________ "Flash is back. Worlds will die again!" |

Ex Machina #21 (after a slightly rough patch, the last arc was excellent)
New Avengers #20 (The House of M sequel that no-one demanded... But it's ok)
Ultimates 2 #11 (yes! I cannot WAIT for this)
Superman Returns Prequel #3 (out of interest for the new film as much as anything else... this is the Lex Luthor issue)
And if I can find them, a couple of back issues of Fell which the Privateer has recently turned me on to: I'm still missing #2 and #3... |

Then, I'll check it out.
I hadn't heard any opinion about this book, good or bad, and just based on the art and solicits, it sounded pretty lame. However, if you're saying it's good, I think I'll give it a shot on Wednesday. _________________ "Flash is back. Worlds will die again!" |

All-Star Superman #4 - Every time a new AS issue comes out I'm always a little surprised by it. First, because I can't remember the plot from the last issue (at least two months previous) and then by how good it is. I'm really looking forward to Morrison taking over the title Batman book next month.
Ex Machina #21 - Still my favorite underrated book. Getting a new issue two weeks in a row is nice too. I hold to my opinion this book is still looking for its voice. But even at 70%, this book is stil really quite good.
New Avengers #20 - It's always difficult to send a new team out for their first adventure. Take more than a year to introduce them and then pressure is even greater to make that first adventure really huge. This first adventure is going really slow. I still like the New Avengers but not as much as I did. _________________ 2006 Pull List Awards

So this turns out to be a wonderful week to return to the board after almost a month of internet issues keeping me from getting online from my apartment as I don't have anything being pulled for me at the local shop. Guess weeks like this are what I get for trying to minimize my spending (and having a couple mini-series end). I will be reading my friends copy of New Avengers. If they weren't going to blow it all up in Civil War I'd probably go ahead and add it to my pull list...oh well, we'll see what happens. Looking forward to next week! _________________ https://twitter.com/tburnham7

Not bad, but not the greatest comics I've ever read. I get the feeling from the first two that they're going to be almost exclusively about the supporting cast, as there's barely been any appearance of the man himself. Still, they're quite interesting places to find out a bit of backstory on Krypton in issue #1 (almost directly lifted from the first Donner film) and Martha Kent in issue #2 (which was more interesting from a human point of view, and had better interior art IMO). They work well as "trailers" for the upcoming film, but don't give too much away. There's not much of a story so far other than the Superman origin and the fact that he's been away for a while, but they're probably worth a look if you're hyped for the film.
Oh, and I'd forgotten about All-Star Supes - definitely picking that up. |
