|
|
From this week's New Joe Fridays at Newsarama...
http://www.newsarama.com/NewJoeFridays/NewJoeFridays03.html
"NRAMA: “Doombug” - Joe with the new 'Hawkeye' being confirmed, can you tell us where Clint Barton will be during all of this? Maybe a teaser to one of the Civil War books?
JQ: You should be seeing more of Clint by years’ end, you never know where he’s been but I bet he’s been having a devil of a time."
That's as near to a confirmation as anything we've had so far... or is it just more misdirection from Joey Q? |

Pretty lame if it's true. And, let's face it, it probably is since Joey likes to be cute with the play on words. This is utter crap. Since when is Hawkeye an acrobat? He can't move like DD on the rooftops. Utter crap.
And, as for Dave's comment about "Brubaker's second DD." Hmmm. I wonder if this was his idea at all now. I'm beginning to think (cause of this Civil War crap) that Joey Q. TOLD Bru to include this in his arc. Wow. A writer compromising his story and vision this early? No backbone for Bru? I hope this isn't the case. And, if it isn't the case, then that means Bru came up with the idea of Hawkeye. Hawkeye "replacing" (in ability) DD is absurd. I don't know which is worse. All this could tarnish an arc that shows much promise.
Sad.

Of course, the other alternative is that Brubaker came up with the idea of a second DD, and Joe Q (or editorial staff working on Civil War) came up with the idea of it being Clint.
Either way, I don't think it works. It might be a good development for Civil War, but not for a Daredevil story. I'll be surprised to see them reconcile it with some of the stuff we've already seen the second DD do (that huge building-to-building leap in the last issue?).
That's if it is Hawkeye, of course.... |

It's crap. He's giving it up that easily? Since when does it ever turn out that way and why do we keep falling for it.
If it is Hawkeye, I'm gonna be pretty upset. I don't see any connection. Just an excuse to please some Marvel fanboys that would disrupt a seriously great story. _________________ A man without hope is a man without fear

Seems like a red herring to me. Really why would Hawkeye pretend to be DD? It doesn't make sense, seems like misdirection to me. |

i'm not at all too affected by this news. firstly, i've been enjoying bru's run on dd so far. enough to trust him that he knows what he's doing. that whoever's decision it may be to put hawkeye on dd tights(if it is true) bru'll still be able to pull it off credibly. secondly, we still have'nt seen it on paper. joey q. could be sitting on his chair laughing for taking him seriously.
so until i read it confirmed on paper (comic book paper that is) i'm not gonna let this ruin this arc for me. _________________ "Are you talking to me?

i agree about the misdirection. don't we all remember the Ronin/Matt Murdock/Echo crap from New Avengers? Q said once or twice that it was MM (at the san deigo con, i think). i just don't think that he'd give it up that easily. |

I always thought that Ronin really WAS originally intended to be DD, and that the change was made later to have it be Echo instead (for whatever reason). |

I'm a little lost on this second DD character.
Since Daredevil is the only Marvel title I read, am I missing some appearances by another DD in some other books?
Is there somewhere I can go to get caught up on what this part of the story is about? |

Yup, he's also appearing in the "Civil War" miniseries by Mark Millar. There are only 2 issues out so far, and you should be able to pick them up as Marvel is printing thousands of copies of them.... |

Here's an interesting tidbit from http://www.manwithoutfear.com/ddIDEN.shtml:
Quote: | 92 His identity is blown by a San Francisco TV station. TV reports go out saying that Matt is Daredevil. Matt solves the problem by having the Black Panther dress up as Daredevil and fight a battle while Matt looks on for the TV cameras. Matt explains that the original Daredevil was Mike Murdock and the new Daredevil is someone else. This issue ties up most of the unresolved identity stories from the issues before it. |
This would tie in nicely with the whole T'Challa/Illuminati/DD2 shindig.
"Curiouser and curiouser," thought Alice... _________________ Poser |

Yes indeed, curiouser and curiouser.
Maybe it's Ben Reilly donning the red tights since Spidey is otherwise occupied. Maybe when we finally see Matt back in the tights, he will be posing again as Mike. I have no idea. That's what is making this fun. Write me some more good stuff, Bru. _________________ Alice

The recent newsarama interview with Brubaker (here: http://www.newsarama.com/forums/showthread.php?t=75367 ) lends more weight to the Hawkeye theory...
The Bru wrote: | "Matt has no idea who it is, and I will not say, other than it's one of my personal favorite Marvel characters, who's been out of the way for a while, since like, last fall, at least. It's all revealed in Daredevil #88." |

Perhaps the identity of the DD impersonator will be divulged, and the character will bear a strong resemblance to Hawkeye, only due to "artistic errors" it is not actually Hawkeye. Or perhaps Elektra will claim to know the true identity of the DD impersonator, only to inexplicably retract her statement at a later date. Then Becky will escort Milla to the Vault to visit Bullet (Milla insisted)! And Matt's brownstone - its in Brooklyn now. With Marvel editing, you never know, Dave! |

I know who the DD impersonator is. It's obviously....
Echo. A woman with her boobs taped to her thighs. Bendis was behind it. DAMN YOU BENDIS! DAMN YOU! |
