Great interview Kuljit, from interviews that I've heard with him, he does seem down to earth and a good bloke. He certainly has a plan for DD and if his run on Cap is anything to go by, we will continue to be in very safe hands.
I've read the previews and seen the art for criminal, it looks great, there is an interview for in on Newsarama as well I think. If anyone likes the look of Criminal, it is very very very much like an earlier Brubaker and Sean Phillips work called Sleeper, that is an amazing 24 issue run, now available in four trades I believe. _________________ Always Out-Manned, Never Out-Gunned |

This interview should lay to rest that arguement that Bendis left a big mess for Brubaker. They obviously charted the baton pass rather well.
That last reveal? I'm with you, Clayton! _________________ Alice

I think some previous interviews killed that argument, but there are just certain people who will never let it go because of their obsession with hating Bendis. Personally, I thought Bendis wrote a lot of boring DD work, and misrepresented some characters at times, however, the over all story was a great one.
From Brubaker's past work, he's shown to be a writer who embraces epic eventful stories with real character development, rather than a stream of repetitive self contained six issue story arcs, which often plagues this medium. (And many fan boys/girls seem to freak out if they don't get this sort of static story every month. In real life, a hero would go through crazy changes like Matt has in Bendis's work. It's good story telling to deal with this kind of problem.) I think Brubaker will do well at advancing the character and continuing with this great study of the secret identity superhero in modern society. _________________ "Flash is back. Brubaker's contrast between Batman and DD is great. I have never understood people who state that DD is Marvel's Batman, etc. I get the impression that these people have only read Frank Miller DD, and even then didn't really pay attention. It's like saying Spidey is Marvel's Superman.
"Mithra: Becky Blake.
Brubaker: One of my favorites from the Miller era cast, and I couldn't figure out why she wasn't in the book, so I brought her back."
I hear ya!
"Mithra: Punisher.
Brubaker: I'd have included him just to get his opening scene in, because it's so funny."
Yep!
"Brubaker: I'd like to stay one issue longer than Brian. Ha."
I definitely hope he does!
I for one am looking forward to the Mike Murdock shades. _________________ "Flash is back. Worlds will die again!" |

Who do you think the returning villains who haven't been seen in a while? One is serious and the other is silly. |

How about the Jester for the silly one?
And, maybe The Purple Man or the Death-Stalker (back from the dead) for the other.
just guessing, rgj |

Hmmm, Jester was in the Decalogue, which was relased about a year ago, so I doubt he would be a character we haven't seen in a while. However Leap-Frog or Matador have appeared in the book for 5 years, so they could be it as well. I don't think would be Stilt-Man, he was last seen in 2003 and that wasn't that long ago, plus I doubt Brubaker would reverse Wilbur Day quiting and I don't we know enough about the new Stilt-Man for him to warrant an appearance.
As for the serious villain, brining back Deathstalker would come as silly and unrealstic in an urban comic if not handled correctly. Purple Man hasn't been in a DD comic in 20 years, but he may have captured by Zemo in Thunderbolts and thus would not be around, if that is the case. Mr. Fear hasn't been in a DD comic for about 8 years so it could be him. |

Angar and Mind-wave are both dead, I doubt Brubaker would bring them back.
As for Mephisto, Brubaker didn't like the Ann Nocenti years, so I doubt he would use one of the most prominent villains from her run. Plus the new Ghost Rider series will have dibs on him. Also I will bet Brubaker will want to keep things down to Earth, so I doubt we will be seeing things like demon lords showing up. |

Is it me, or is Master devoid of even a semblance of a sense of humor??
And really, Master, did you ask us who we thought might be the villains just so you could shoot down the guesses?? Geez.

An exceptional DD villan returns? I have been clamoring for Ammo (not seen since DD Vol. #1 #260) to return for some time! He was a brutal, merciless lawbreaker. Nonsensical villans? Perhaps Kruel - the most ill-conceived villan ever -survived his plunge! Or maybe Sir (the..uh..androgynous woman-hater) is the one impersonating DD! He did don DD's costume before, did he not, Kuljit? |
