I was somewhat disappointed. It never really appealed to me in the marvel previews, but I had hoped that seeing it in person that it would look better. The good news was that it only has a run of 1100 pieces.
Did anyone else notice that strap going around his shoulder area? It looks like a grenade but i don't think its supposed to be one. It looks like some sort of pocket, but I don't ever recall Daredevil ever having one there.

Hey, Clayton
I literally recieved my package via UPS about 10 minitues ago. I ordered two of these statues (one will be kept in box) back in February. While the statue is not as nicely done as the Bowen stuff, I still think it's a fine piece to my growing collection (now to keep it from my fiancee! , 70 bucks a pop! I ordered these things before I got engaged!).
Also, you are right about the little pocket on the shoulder. Who the heck okayed that thing!? It's definitly as out of place as having DD holding a gun. But, I can live with it. Still, a very nice little piece. I give it a solid B grade.

Well, I saw it again at the shop. I think I'd give it a B-. I might buy it. What numbers did you get there rgi? (the geek in me must know!) The one at my shop was 818 I think. Hey, I hoped you pre-ordered that big one (15 1/2 inches high! ) coming this christmas (later most likely) before you got engaged. I am still wondering how I'm going to explain this one to my wife. "But honey I never paid a cent for this, this was a christmas gift from my friends at the manwithoutfear site. They're the best bunch! <hides bill, paid in cash>" Hmmmm, what to do. _________________ Love is blindness, I don't want to see

The statue I opened is number 098. I haven't opened the other so I don't know the number. Eventually, I think I will open it cause I didn't buy it to resell it. But, for now, it's still in prestine condition.
As for the big statue coming in December. I didn't preorder it. I actually didn't really like the look of it (it's the one with DD next to the cross, right?). I think the DD "look" looked a little like Quesada's DD in the DD:Father mini. You know, kind of like the DD on steroids look. It kind of turned me off. Still, part of me is second guessing myself, simply because there just aren't that many DD statues out there (as compared to the more popular Spidey). Now, I'm beginning to think I should get it. I mean, there is nothing wrong with different interpretations of DD (just like there is different styles of art painting). I might look into getting it, if it's not too late. But, if it doesn't happen it doesn't happen.

p.s. Now I have to buy a glass case curio to display all these statues! Now, how am I going to keep that from my fiancee!? And, just how am I going to explain to her that I've registred us at Dynamic Forces, Tales of Wonder, Mile High Comics, and the Bowen site for our wedding gifts |

Hmmm, When I ordered this I was under the impression that this was based on the cover to #3 (vol.2) where Daredevil is leaning over the cross. Based on the marvel preview and the diamond solicitation, I came to the conclusion that the look was based on Quesada's earlier Daredevil look with the cartoony-exageration style. This wasn't near the Hulkdevil we saw in Father #1.

I think the size falls more in line with Quesada's joint cover work with Mack on #11 (vol.2). Yes, it is more noticably bulkier than his work in Guardian Devil. Plus, you can see the BIG hand wrapped around Echo's waist. _________________ Love is blindness, I don't want to see

Hey, Clayton,
Without a doubt, the DD statue is based on the cover of #3 (vol. 2). But, to me, DD's size still looks more exaggerated than what he looks like on the cover of #3. DD really has a normal size body on the cover. Just compare the hands on the cover and the statue. I think DD looks closer to DD:Father than Guardian Devil (pose notwithstanding). Still, I might look into getting it. Man, I have to stop browsing the statues on Entertainment Earth. Have you seen all the Star Wars statues? They have a giant size Han Solo Attakus statue (like the DD in flames one). $400 bucks !!!!!
I better stick to Daredevil!

Yeah, that seems the best. Oh wait! The Jim Lee Superman statue comes out next month! I can't have The Batman one sitting all alone up there on the shelf. Man, I better have some good excuses for all of this.

Yes, those Star Wars ones are pretty nice too. Don't even go there man! _________________ Love is blindness, I don't want to see

I wish I had the money to grab some of those statues.
On a similar but different note, I'd really like to get some of those mini busts. I heard on the bendis board that Bowen is supposedly going to make an Elektra bust. (I only like the Bowen busts.) That was the only reason (besides forking out the money) holding me back cause I'd like to get the whole DD set made by Bowen; Black Widow, DD, Bullseye, and Elektra. Maybe one day, if Elektra comes out...
(Didn't mean to derail the thread...)
What other statues do you guys have? |
