Yup. I agree again. Pride, We3 and V are all awesome. But why prefer V over Watchmen? Everyone should just get V and Watchmen. _________________ JC

I'm not saying I'd prefer V over Watchmen. We are discussing Vertigo books and Watchmen is not a Vertigo book. But nonetheless, it goes without saying, like some sort of unwritten code, that you own Watchmen or have read it before if you are interested in mature books. If you haven't read it, you dare admit it. I, for one, will gasp with shock.

They really need to do hardcover collections of Preacher. That would be serious bad news for my bank account. _________________ Even though I'm broke I got a six pack of beer. |

No kidding! I think it could happen. Sandman is the very first series of significant size that is getting this 4 volume treatment. I think Preacher could fit into 3 volumes, but if they did 4 volumes the price could come a little on each.
No suprises about Vertigo at the Eisners this year. 1001 Nights... (Fables) was incredible.

I sort of gasped when I looked at my bookshelf and realized that Watchmen wasn't a Vertigo book. How is that possible? I know it came out before Vertigo existed but I'm pretty sure V did as well. I think they retroactively plugged V into Vertigo, why not Watchmen? _________________ JC

I've just started the second volume (Cycles) of Y:The Last Man and . . . I mean, . . . wow. I mean, like, . . . holy freakin' wow. What can I say? I'm sold. I'm engrossed.
I also have the first two volumes of Fables which I haven't started but, I'm eager to start. I also have the Absolute Sandman (beautiful looking edition), which will have to wait as I am also reading Absolute Watchman right now.
Anyway, so I've arrived late to the show. But, I'm loving all the trades I'm about to read!!!!
Other than Bru and Peter David, Marvel hasn't aroused me like this in a long time. Joey Q . . . You don't bring me flowers . . . anymore.

Yeah, the first seven volumes are awesome. I think I bought Vol. 1 and then immediately went out and bought Vol. 2 and 3 at the same time. No other series has made me buy two trades at once. _________________ JC

Man! I envy all the "new" stuff you have in front of you right now. I wish there was something that has been sitting around for awhile in a few volumes that I could just dive into. Well, I guess there is Miracle Man, but its hell finding that stuff and cheap enough too. _________________ Love is blindness, I don't want to see

I just read Sleeper for the 2nd time and loved it just as much as the 1st time. I realize it's not a Vertigo title but it is so good, and is by Brubaker and his Criminal cohort, Sean Phillips. There's 12 issues to each of the 2 'seasons'. I have the 1st season in 2 trades and though I got the 2nd in individual issues at half price from Visioncomix, I believe those are collected in 2 trades, as well. Recently, I bought the trade of Point Blank, which is a prequel to Sleeper, but absolutely not required to enjoy this fine work. The fact that I knew nothing about the Wildstorm Universe did not detract at all from my enjoyment. I highly recommend this series. _________________ It's never too late to have a happy childhood! |
