I've voted "other"... Not that I don't like the others in the list, but I wanted to cast a vote for the Femm family, in James Whale's "The Old Dark House" (1932)... quite a terrific bunch!
(I would have voted Dr. Moreau in "Island of Lost Souls! (1932)... Alas, it was a Paramount, not a Universal production. A fine film, nonetheless) _________________ Gloria

Hey, what about Fred Bucato's magistral interpretation of Billy-goat Gruff in "Revenge from Under the Bridge" (1923, Pantheon Pictures)? |

I'd have to say Frankie (as played by Karloff, not Lugosi).
Incidently, the original novel of Dracula is still my favorite all time horror novel, edging out The Exorcist. Do yourselves a favor and check it out. It is absolutely riveting. _________________ It's never too late to have a happy childhood! |

Indeed!
I had seen a lot of film versions (really, A LOT), but got curious about reading the actual novel ("blame" Alan Moore and his League of extraordinary gentlemen)... And, I was so surprised that, even though I was aware of the basic plot elements, I couldn't put down the book!
I enjoyed it a lot, though I must say that reading it alone at home, at night, was -yes-, pretty frightening! _________________ Gloria
