Will the Elektra film pass 50 Million (US domestic)? (remember Punisher and Catwoman didn't) |

Taken from SHH! Ghost Rider interview with MSJ.
Will you be making a sequel to Daredevil even if Ben Affleck decides not to return to the part?
Daredevil is an amazing character and bigger than any one actor. I would love to do another one. If the Elektra spin-off does well, I could certainly see that happening.
Just as I always suspected (and I think train even agreed with me concerning this). The DD sequel is basically in the hands of the ELEKTRA movie. If it does well we might get part 2. If it tanks it takes DD with it.
another observation,

Right you are, my friend. The real question is...how big of a success will Electra have to be to justify DD2?
I really have mixed feeling about MSJ directing the second DD movie... |

I really think that it has the possibility to make alot of money. Anyone know what other movies will be up against Elektra? Maybe it will do great because its the only thing out that week. |

I'm thinking that Elektra will do between 60-70 million domestic...perhaps 130 counting international, and will do pretty well on DVD, but perhaps not as high as the previous film did (which is one of Marvel's best-selling dvd releases)
Here's the film slate for January
January 7
- Underclassman
- White Noise
January 14
- Coach Carter
- Elektra
- Les Choristes
- Racing Stripes
January 21
- Assault on Precinct 13
- Beautiful Boxer (limited)
- Hostage
- Milk and Honey (NY)
January 28
- Aliens of the Deep (IMAX)
- Are We There Yet?
- D.E.B.S.
- Everybody Knows (limited)
- Fascination (limited)
- Hide and Seek
- Nobody Knows (NY, LA)
January looks pretty slim all-round. I think that the Horseracing film "racing stripes" that's released on the same day might be the only threatening competition. |

I agree with Lonewolf, Elektra looks so promising in that list of coma inducing flicks
With the release of the Alias series on DVD and doing well, Garner is more in the public eye than ever, coupled with a slick advertising campaign I'd say Elektra should hit the 50 mil mark quite easy (plus, its post Christmas and people will have some extra cash on hand) _________________ "You must be the change you wish to see in the world." - Ghandi |

Thankfully the media attention/public response to Garner/Affleck's relationship seems to be A LOT better than the JLO fiasco, so there won't be a deterrent there. |

Are they an item?
I pick up on rumours here and there but nothing confirmed...? _________________ "You must be the change you wish to see in the world." - Ghandi |

There are now pics of them together at the World series and alleged (and I mean alleged) quotes from Kevin Smith and MAtt Damon praising their relationship.
Nothing of them kissing or anything though...but even still, this early on it's STILL got better press than "Bennifer" ever did... |

And hey, a cooler couple than "Bennifer" (registered trademark)
Hmm, interesting... _________________ "You must be the change you wish to see in the world." - Ghandi |

have not seen any of the electra trailers yet. is it any good?
i would love for the electra movie to make a good box office showing, if only to give DD another chance at the big screen. is there any chance of not getting MSJ to direct the possible sequel? _________________ "Are you talking to me?

Well he was originally supposed to direct Elektra, but ended up just onboard as a producer, so I'd assume that it IS possible for someone else to direct the next Daredevil feature. |

Given the competition for that given week... or even that given month... I would expect it will do big (not gigantic) numbers for that week, and will probably even remain at the top of the charts for two or three weeks. Talk about your lucky break in terms of release-timing... sheesh.
Plus, there's been a lot of undercurrent hype lately about ninja-oriented flicks; I'm having a real hard time remembering the name of this movie that I saw clips from recently (Cherron; Charron; something like that?), but it was one seriously amazing Japanese futuristic flick... supposed to come state-side soon; I would think that some of that hype will eek over to the release of Elektra, since the special effects do look pretty slick.
Personally, I'd love to see Elektra do great at the boxoffice; I'd love to see them do a DD2; and then I'd like them to release that PS2 game that they developed! My own little XMas wish-list! |

While I hope Elektra will do well in terms of box office returns, I hope it doesn't tank in a market that is quickly becoming overly saturated with superhero movies. It seems that Marvel wants to make a movie out of almost every superhero they have, and eventually people will tire of them, profits will decrease, and the era of good superhero movies will end for a few years. Frankly, I would have much rather seen another Daredevil movie than an Elektra. I have never read an Elektra comic, so I don't know if the film version is true to the source material, but the preview makes it look just plain weird. I'll go see it to support the cause of a second Daredevil film, but I'm not really interested in it. Marvel needs to concentrate on their main heroes, and ditch possible movies like Luke Cage and Deadpool. The next thing you know they'll be trying to do a Jessica Jones movie. _________________ "Why should I be frightened of dying?

I don't know about ditching a deadpool and Luke Cage movie, those are two strong characters whose appeal could potentially bring in an audience, however, characters such as Thor and Namor, for instance, I can't see being appealing enough in solo films, although they'd probably work fine as supporting characters in other films. |
