In "The Devil in Cell block D" part 4, during meal time, an inmate insults the Punisher and in turn gets brutally assaulted by him, until Matt tells him to stop.
Is it me or that inmate looks a lot like Eddie Brubaker? |

Yep, that's Ed Brubaker.
Lark drew himself into his first issue, and DD editors Alejandro Arbona and Warren Simons also are in some issues. Chico and Merv are really actor/comedians Brian Posehn (sp?) and Patton Oswalt as well.
And if you want to go back... Alex Maleev is Sammy Silke, and his real life wife is Milla!
When (if?) I ever get time, I plan on making a new section for these types of appearances. _________________ Kuljit Mithra

Yeah, but if you ask me, this one is funnier than Maleev's precedents, it has a better "cameo" feeling to it.
Also, I find it hilarious that Lark chose right the writer to appear and get beaten up, of all the possibilities. :p |

Yeah, I love when they sneak things like that in. I've heard that both Matt and Ben Urich in Wake Up are based on David Mack himself, just imagined in different ways.
Another great little thing was when Lark drew the paper Matt is reading in #103 and had the square at the top of the page say "Brubaker old as dirt, according to panel of judges." _________________ The Other Murdock Papers |

Mmmh... Any idea if any specific guys have posed for Maalev and Lark for Foggy reference? Anyone got their phone numbers?

And isn't Stilt-Man (in his appearance during Bendis & Maleev's run) based on Bendis?
I think Bendis also appears in the "Watcher" role in "What if Karen Page Had Lived?". |

I understand that the bearded and bespectacled FBI agent in cxharge of Foggy's custody in DD # 88 is also a portrait of Brubaker.
If so, I found that phrase by the character to be nicely reassuring (change "watch" for "run"):
"...I don't intend to see you get killed on my watch"
As for author's portraits, I laughed a lot at the self-portraits seen in the storyconference between Stan "The Man" Lee and Gene "The Dean" Colan in an old annual (i can't find it right now) _________________ Gloria

The previous Kingpin in the Golden Age arc was Robert Duvall. |

The guy on the cover (Teague Lawless?) of the up coming Criminal 2 coming out at the end of the month, has got to be Harvey Keitel. _________________ It's never too late to have a happy childhood! |
