Like the one in the main section, this topic will be dedicated to quotes, from different comics, you liked.

I'll start:

"Come git yer kicks on Route Snikty-Snikt!" - Logan, from The Punisher (6th series) #16 "Vertical Challenge".

"Monica Rambeau is a veteran super hero, previously known as Captain Marvel, whose mother always wanted her to get a proper job. So she joined H.A.T.E.

When her mother died, she went to Hell, and is used as a bucket by giant weasels dressed as cheerleaders. And that's what happens when you tell your kids to get a proper job."

"There is one shining star in the Marvel galaxy whose origin turns me on perhaps a bit more than some of the others. There is one particular character whose creation was somewhat more of a challenge, somewhat more difficult to work out, and somewhat more satisfying to savor when it was finally completed."

Stan Lee on Daredevil's origin from Son of Origin.

"Freedom of speech is a wonderful thing, so long as nobody is listening". --Lex Luthor (The Dark Knight Strikes Again)

One of the most unsettling lines of dialogue ever spoken in a comic book,...in my opinion.

Okay, this is extremely obscure and only of personal significance, but I thought I'd share it anyway. When I was growing up, I (along with every other child in Sweden) read Bamse. Bamse is a a brown bear who becomes very strong when he eats a concoction called "thunder honey" prepared by his grandmother. His stories are about him, his friends Lille Skutt ("Little Hop," a white rabbit), and Skalman ("Shellman," a hyperintelligent turtle), and his family. Yes, he's married with four children, yet manages to be relatable to kids. Go figure...

Anyway, the issue back in the early eighties which marks the date of the conception of his first children (triplets), has a panel of Bamse and his wife Brummelisa snuggling in bed with a caption that reads (my translation):

"That night, Bamse and Brummelisa held each other very close."

This line really made quite an impression on me. I was maybe six at the time, and I had already started to suspect that there was more to making babies than a simple hug. And, at age six, that "something more" did not seem very appealing. So, I took the comic book and asked my mother something along the lines of "that's all it takes, right?" I don't remember what she said, but Bamse and Brummelisa making babies is an image that has stayed with me ever since, and I just smile a little thinking about it. Of course, any kiddie comic in any other country would have skipped the love-making scene altogether, but this was Sweden after all...

"That night, Bamse and Brummelisa held each other very close."

Very Happy

I wonder if Rune Andreasson realized that "kramas extra länge" would be a byword for sex for an entire generation...

Hmm... Maybe I should have written "That night, Bamse and Brummelisa held each other extra close." That would have been a better translation. Which, of course, begs the question.... Are you Swedish? If so, why do you have a German screen name? I'm just curious, no need to divulge your secret identity if you don't want to... Wink

And to rgj: Thanks for posting that panel. That's hilarious!

Smile that really never gets old. Everyone mentions his canonical fianceé, but Batman mentions Robin. And the fact that baldguy is using the word touched doesn't help.

About Bamse's quote. So it was really "extra close", huh? Smile. Well, it must be appreciated that the author kind of said the truth to his little readers, instead of going with the usual stratagem of having the kids pop out all of a sudden as foundlings or nephews.

Holy *beep*! I found the actual panel! Fluffy bear love-making coming up!

And it should be noted that the caption actually reads: "Och den kvällen kramar de varandra länge," wich very literally means "And that evening they hug each other for a long time." So, that settles it then. I love whoever decided to scan that panel...

UPDATED: Here's the result, a few months later...

Oh, and sorry for going a little off-topic here, I just got so darn nostalgic.

I'm Swedish, yes. My screen name comes from noted sociologist (and German) Martin Weber. "Entzauberung" (de-enchantment) is how he describes hoe modernity sucked the magic out of the world during industrialization. I just plain like the sound of the word.

Actually RGJ there IS something wrong with it as Dick Grayson was an underage minor at the time. Laughing Wink

I wonder if the people who did that comic had any idea of how bad that looked. (But boy it was funny anyways!) Laughing

Funny also how everyone mentions the first and last name of their respective love interest, even though they are only thinking.

Oh, and it gets worse Jim B.,

Now, what was the writer thinking here!? Ah, the 1950s!
