i don't get out to see movies in the theatre much (having two young kids will do that to you). in fact, i can't remember the last movie that i saw in the theatre (return of the king, maybe). that being said, wow. what a great movie. i'm already planning on seeing it again. i can't think of anything that i didn't like. good strong introduction story, awesome action and CGI, fantastic actors. downey is perfect in the role of tony stark. i don't want to spoil anything so i'll be pretty vague. while i'm not completely famaliar with the Iron Man back story, i did see references to war machine and the mandarin. there is also a pretty cool bonus scene after all of the credits that readers of "The Ultimates" will appreciate. really reallly good movie. go see it. |

Couldnt agree more. Stark is the part that Robert Downey Jr Was born to play. While i have enjoyed most of the comic book movie translations (Yes even Daredevil) Ive never felt they managed to get the lead character right, either in looks or personality. But RDJ just is Tony Stark! Pure and simple!
It also has that vital element of humour that was missing from most translations (step forward Hulk) and more importantly it works, without taking it too far (Step forward Fantastic 4!)
And yes, dont even think about leaving until after the credits! Why they kept this scene hidden i will never know. It had me and my friends, the only ones wise enough to stay behind, cheering like there was no tomorrow!
I was so ready for this movie to be a dissapointment. Sometimes i love being proved wrong! _________________ 'A prodical son can't undo what he's done!' |

I'm not a big Iron Man fan, but I'm probably going to see the film soon. The fact that it's gotten amazing reviews is a bonus. In fact, according to Rotten Tomatoes it's the best reviewed movie of the YEAR (all generas). And, it's even described as possibly the best comic book movie of all time. Geez! How'd that happen!? Then again, it had a real director and writers. Really excited about this flick.
You know, perhaps, after Hulk, Dark Knight, and Hellboy 2 are released, we should have a Best Comic Book Turned Movie Showdown. Just a thought.

I probably won't get to see this for a while, but what do you guys think of the announcement of Iron Man 2, Captain America, Thor and an Avengers movie?!? Too much too soon? _________________ Kuljit Mithra

I was going to go see it last week, but didn't have the time. I'll probably try to see it this month though. I had no idea they were announcing all those other movies, at least not officially (I'd heard about Thor). But it seems like Marvel might be able to do some great things now that they are running the show a little more. If it keeps the Marvel U alive and kicking, and gets people to buy the books, I'm all for it. You don't want to wear out the audience though, so it's something of a balancing act. _________________ The Other Murdock Papers |

Haven't seen the movie yet, but want to share something that's rather funny with you.

Well, it's incredibly ambitious, that's for sure. Apparently they have Downey Jr. and Edward Norton bound under contract to reprise their roles in an Avengers movie. They still haven't cast the Cap and Thor movies yet, so I don't know if it's going to feel like Marvel is oversaturating the market with their movies. It doesn't seem like it yet, because everyone seems to love the Iron Man movie. I too thought it was great. |

Captain America movie is a great idea, so long as they cast it right!
Justin Hartley from Smallville to play Cap! It just makes sense! As for the Avengers movie, im excited but kinda worried at the same time. Could end up being too much like X-men, with no characters getting enough screen time because they have to share.
Guess only time will tell tho. And with so many new Marvel movies getting announced surely its only a matter of time before they decide to revisit Daredevil? _________________ 'A prodical son can't undo what he's done!' |

I saw the movie yesterday. It was an OK movie, all in all, but I found it lacking - and sometimes disappointing - on several aspects. |

Really? I saw it openning day and I really liked it. There was an odd lack of action but everything else was so good that it was entertaining from start to finish.
As for KM's question about the Avenger's movie, etc. I dunno. I've never been a big fan of the Avengers. I think a bit of that stems from their kinda wacky and/or random origins plus the fact that the team was just Marvel throwing all their major characters together.
The real problem, however, is that I think they make better comic characters than movie characters. I think it'd be really hard to make a Captain America movie. And it would be really, really hard to make a Thor movie. Does it take place on earth? Is Loki involved? How would that not confuse the pants off a mainstream audience? _________________ JC

Excellent film. Smart and relevent updated origin. Funny and action filled. Only down part was Gwyneth Paltrow's acting. Other than that, "The Dude abides." |

Outstanding film. I believe I have a rather lengthy review of it on my home laptop. |
